  1. So I meet denim on Friday to give him my old box. I turn on the stereo to demo it for him and we immediately hear mechanical noise coming from the sub... WTF??! He suggested I check the seal on the sub, sure enough there must have been a gap in the seal. *whew* For what it's worth, I thought my front stage sounded pretty good... until you listened to it. Then it became painfully obvious I have imaging problems. Argh!!! Hey, I never said it sounded bad, just some crossover adjustments for my ear preference. There was no shine, or tinniness, or tunnel sound to the mids, clean sound, I would just do some slight adjustments.
  2. As for sounding better, that I can't say until heard. But I would venture to say the Seas would be pretty good for sure. But for imaging, yeah, the mids and tweets in a kick would be a little better. The disparity in distance to the drivers ear is less, then when placed in the door. But I like the way you are thinking about mid-basses in the doors. I was just kind of throwing that idea out there since you had mentioned about having more power for the sub stage. I don't trust my glassing skills to build kicks, but NDmstang65 has a 4runner and I believe he did vifa kicks, and he is a skilled builder if you would want some assistance. If you head in that direction, with a great deal of work, you could have an SQ competition level system.
  3. lol you SQ guys.. oh im one of them kinda.. I'v been running it over in my mind to try the 10 in a sealed box in my dakota reg cab.. I will keep you posted on that.. I liked the 15's cant bring myself to cut the cab sorry Mark no (2) 15's ported for me.. No room for a ported box for the 10" on the smaller end of the spectrum ?
  4. I like the recessed sub mounting.

    Very nice work.
  7. I got to listen to the install the other day. Amps are doing great. The high highs to mid range is clean and accurate on flat EQ setting. My preference wants a little lower crossover point for the mids. But we will see once deadening is in. Maybe have some small custom kicks, and have a 3 way active front stage and have the 100.2 on mid-bass'
  8. I would suggest talking to mrray13 or tireryr, both moderators on here. They both do excellent custom box work and I am sure they would be cheaper then a shop. Oh and thanks for the compliments on the forum.
  9. DO you have any size or space restrictions?
  10. I am very similar to Ryan ^^, rarely do I buy a driver anymore with out testing or a listen, but I have been lucky to hear a good number of speakers.
  11. If you have questions about the Fi Q, ask the Fi tech team in their forum right here on SSA.
  12. You won't be disappointed. My RL-i8 pounds (very clean and smooth) with only a SAX-100.2 at 8 ohms in a poorly-designed horn enclosure. I can't wait to rebuild my box this weekend.. waiting on a new T-Box design from HexiBase. Sounds great sealed too.
  13. Put some power to it and tell us how it works out.
  14. Jacob (sundown) does not currently sell new models direct. But his dealers do SSA being one of them. But I would talk to the Fi tech guys to see what they say about running that much power (upwards of 1400 from the RF) to the SSD.
  15. I have one, but I have not had day light hours yet to install it. The only thing a few people have mentioned is a ground noise in the RCA's, but I have not tested mine yet.
  16. That amp looks like a fun project.
  17. I believe for normal needs, as long as you have the batteries fused from each other you should be ok.
  18. Welcome, and glad we have a Hawaii following!
  19. PM me if you want to change it, the little squares are based on # of posts.
  20. No booster. It has both power steering and power brakes, but the brakes are hydraboost. Isn't that what hydraboost is though? Using pressure from the PS system to boost the brakes? Or am I mistaken here? You are correct, but, well, when you say booster, I think of the original round can booster you see on vacuum assisted vehicles. Hydraboost is more just like a valve. I used to have some good information on this, and I actually met the inventor of hydraboost braking systems once. He's good friends with a former boss and Bendix world HQ are in South Bend. I met the guy who invented the gas discharge brake light for FoMoCo.
  21. I too have been trying to cut down on sodas, and I've been feeling better since. It's really quite impressive how much better you feel without soda. Same goes for a lot of things
