I am always open to new ideas and methods. Technically, I am not trying to bulk, I'm actually dropping weight (not necessarily planned). As for me, it is the sheer amount of protein volume needed to just maintain. To gain and bulk, it would have to go up even more. What has your body done to let you know you need that protein? Reading some source saying it is appropriate is not a good reason. Not saying that is the case. I personally am a protein fiend, but in a natural way. I get nearly instantaneously grumpy when I don't have enough but it's NEVER been an issue with needing more. I played with whey a bit when biking and whether I used it or not it didn't change my feelings. Muscle mass retention, repair and strength. I know if I have not been getting enough protein, I tear down the muscles more then they are able to rebuild, along with power when going with large muscle group/heavy lifts etc.
