  1. I spoke with Don of SDS and we thought this would be a nice addition. As we have a dedicated Sound Deadening section here, this topic is meant for technical questions you want to ask Don directly to help add to the resource of this section. No, this is not a topic about SDS product pricing and such, that is what Don's email is for. Hopefully this will be a nice focused discussion to help people understand the concepts and purpose behind different materials and products available.
  2. Thanks a lot man. John, I really hope things work out so I can come down and hang out with you guys at Scrapin'. I think it would be a good time and I would really love to have some seat time in the Team LP trucks. Maybe you guys could help me out a little too! Even at my age, I still don't know it all. lol Fine! I love your subs. LOVE THEM, BUT < mash it XCONS Incredible subs. Very lucky to have people like yourself who still care about how things sound when not on a meter. People just assume since they are not marketed as a SPL sub that something else will get soooo much louder. Well some can in the right set up, but I will tell you this......... I was following behind my wife the other night leaving my Dad's house and she had the kids in the car. (I was alone because I wanted to smoke ) When we pulled into the driveway the kids came bouncing out of her car to tell me my radio was making their seats vibrate......At 80 MPH. How about that for a SQ woofer? Haha, that is awesome. Thanks for the feedback.
  3. Or send it to me! Aaron.. I haven't even seen you with a setup! Thats because we put money into Mark's truck and I always seem to have life in the way of my own audio install. For example, I am moving now and need every square inch of my car.
  4. .... and just send the old XXX to me.
  5. What they said ^^^. As in info so we can help on best for what.
  6. Got an email last night stating all the recent BOSS amp orders are shipping out today, I just don't have tracking yet.
  7. The "button" would mean some code modification. Mark will check into it once he is settled. He is moving across the country at the moment.
  8. Mark is on the road for the next few days. Semi-moving back to NY.
  9. If you grab that one, it would be sick.
  10. Wow, you need to relax. Sean was saying to be more descriptive with your goals, and that we have taken the time to provide new member guidelines. These topics are in place to make questions or topics far more effective. In no way is anyone saying that anyone else needs to pick all out SQ or all out SPL. It is not about wrong terminology, it is about using a better narrative and not being trapped by generic terms that does not help the goal of the install. No one attacked you, only thing people did was try to get better background information to help contribute more effectively, and that is what is different about SSA, and why this place is far superior to most every other forum. If you took a moment to look around, of the member base, VERY few are actual competitors. Most everyone cares about great sound and performance in their car for their ears. I personally could not give two cents about what judges think, as I am against putting effort into anything that is subjectively judged when it comes to competition in anyway. Next, if you had taken the time to look around, you would have seen that many of the senior members on here are on the staff or are considered senior members because THEY have tackled things such as complicated theory, construction and many different design processes. We have dedicated staff members for higher level questions and challenges, we have dedicated sections for technical and advanced topics. It is very well organized and very good information that is extremely accessible. There are not pissing wars here, you have the wrong site. If you think CACO is where you need to go, you have some serious questions to ask yourself. That site, the staff, the host, the lay out, and so on fails hard with a vengeance, anyone that has a clue in the audio forum world knows that it, along with a few others, sits at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to a quality forum that can be a resource. Calm the hell down, get your goals and priorities in order. If not, go hang out on a site that is counterintuitive, not beneficial and filled with kiddies that have minimal experience.
  11. Jacob, can you post the 3-way power ratting? (@ 4 ohm as I am assuming 2 ohm mono on the rear channels is not stable) A customer asked and I want to make sure.
  12. Nice choice. Now get a hold of Don at SDS and deaden/dampen those doors.
  13. I know a bunch of people were looking forward to these, just waiting on them to jump on it.
  14. I fully understand the idea behind this, and in the right setting is makes a difference. But over the years, here on SSA, the member base (on average mind you compared to most other sites) spends much more time researching their purchases before they buy them. So in turn, people tend to hold on to items longer and are less swayed by what is the newest or most hyped up product at the moment. That effects the classified section on here as it will naturally get less traffic. Now yes, there are plenty of members (and I have a good idea who they are) that have well under 100 posts, but solely use SSA to post up their stuff for sale. No big deal, they are not breaking the forum rules by doing so. As for the "Sold" flag or button. We can easily modify a topic title if the user informs a moderator, and the topic can be closed. The button, that would probably mean software modification like Sean mentioned above. We can check into it down the road if it really needed. Also, don't get me wrong, I really appreciate topics like this because it shows members want to be apart of the website.
  15. Welcome to SSA. Glad you found us. The BTL - N3 is an SPL driver, I think you might be thinking of the BTL N1, which is their SQ biased variant. First off, let's ask why you are stuck on an 18" sub in a mid-size sedan? The Xcon/Havoc/Q/RL-p etc. are all excellent drivers, but let's focus on your goals and such before we hammer down a driver choice.
  16. Wow, thanks a lot man. I really appreciate that! People get a bad experience from most pro audio set up with big mids and super tweeters because the person didn't spend any time dialing it in. It's not plug and play, you have to tweak it. It's easy to get really loud, but it's even easier to sound like complete shit. I know mine sounded like that at first too. lol With some time in the seat, you can smooth it out and can sound really good. Might not look as cool as the doors with 12 drivers in them, but I would rather sound good than have a cool door and I think it keeps up just fine like it is. As for the Xcons, I have always told Mark if more people could hear them they would love them. They are really great subs and can make a really nice ground pounder set up. You are not going to burp and fart your way to a trophy with them, but that is not the design. They are for people who enjoy their music and still want to get loud as hell. Thanks again for the kind words Bro. Makes me feel good that the time and effort put into this build was worth it. Let me know if I can help you out any with your build. You can tell me too.
  17. If someone wanted to do one in this area, I could bring a number of drivers (sans enclosures), but I currently do not have a set up to listen to anything in.
  18. No, have not been able to get back to this. Life slammed me pretty hard, so my audio is on hold. Any updates? Nope, the Mazda is now a full time moving vehicle for me, plus it is brutal cold outside.
