You will want to order dual 1 ohm voice coils if you are getting a pair of Icon's. The 1000D is plenty of power, but you can step up to the 1500D for some more output.

We hope so. The valley between the Dcon and Icon is wide, and that segment is a big seller for many brands. So why not offer an American made, 3" coil?

Once more testing is second prototype of this driver, then we can say more about it. It is pretty obvious where it slots in, which is a very busy market segment. But there are not much in terms of a quality offering that is made by hand in the USA. The idea is the same sweet smooth sound you get from the copper coil Icon, but for a few less $$$. There is enough people that want to put either too much power to a Dcon, or don't want to budget for an Icon.
