  1. I do find it interesting how fast these little class-D amps have become apart of DIY'ers market place. As usually, DIY'ers are the most staunch supporters of the old school tech or ways. For casual listening, both Dayton class D amps that I use, have been quite good for the money in my opinion (including that little DTA).
  2. Due to the purchase of my first real TV, I am venturing into digital to digital signal. The TV has no RCA outs, so my Dayton 2.1 plate amp couldn't directly mate up with my TV. With some help of Neal and SDY, there was an option for a converter or amp replacement. Due to potential latency issues with the signal conversion and possible effect on the quality of the sound, I opted for a new little amp. So I just ordered the SMSL Q5 PRO as it has optical in, a remote, and RCA out. https://www.parts-express.com/smsl-q5-pro-stereo-amplifier-usb-optical-coaxial-dac-with-subwoofer-output-2x40w--230-210 This gives me the ability to still use the plate amp for just subwoofer purposes. The SMSL will power at 20 watts a tower (which each consists of 4 Aura full range speaks), which is pretty much the same power the Dayton 2.1 plate amp was putting to them. I will report back when it is set up and I have some listening time on it.
  3. Welcome to the SSA forums. I have the latest prototype 12 of the Gcon replacement now. Will be posting more info shortly.
  4. I'll readdress it when the spinning dorito's are not wanting to spin anymore.
  5. SDY sent me that link. Seems like a nice full set up, just need power plant.
  6. I think it is also about how it will fit and how much it will throw off the weight balance. The LSA was just a BS option as it is too much money, but light weight. To be honest, I don't need gobs of power in that car. 500 is probably going to make it just deadly. Uh oh.
  7. Thanks. Still not fully settled yet.
  8. That would be amazing. But collectively, I don't have the needed play money. This would be my LS engine of choice I think: http://www.chevrolet.com/performance/crate-engines/lsa
  9. LS Swap went out the door when I bought a house last week.
  10. If an L33, IIRC, it would be about 70lbs increase. From a very experienced Autocross friend who ran an RX8 at nationals level, who now has a Z06 for autocross, he said the RX8 is a better handling car for all around and track. So it just needs Vette power.
  11. If you have a pair of 4 ohm SVC mids on the same channel, they will show the amplifier a 2 ohm load. So according to the specs above, they will be sharing 150 watts @ 2ohms. I don't have experience with that series of Zapco, but it appears to have plenty of power.
  12. I badly want to LS sway my RX8.
  13. You can run active, so tweets on channels 1/2, and mids (all 4) on 3/4. In an SSA vehicle, we have two pair of 4 ohm SSA Evil 65's off the rear two channels of the IC150.4 and a pair of tweets off the front two channels. Works very well for a simple 2 way active front stage.
  14. I know I am late, but when I had the 528i, I ordered most parts from Bavarian Auto. Good people.
  15. Arthur is the same way. Not competitive at all, could care less about sports or teams or fitness. It is very frustrating, but there is a messy reason as to why that I cannot get into it in the iHop.
  16. Latest new is mid August for release.
  17. No rush, it is something that is rolling around in my head. Funding is the biggest obstacle. I can explain more in detail, but I am starting to fund SSA projects (8's are the first thing), so money to launch a new brand/line is very limited at this time.
  18. Do you even fit in one? Or need a custom Singer one off?
  19. No worries, I hope it gets sorted asap.
