  1. I've had mine since christmas of 2007 and no problems *knocks on wood* Thats good. My issue has not really been with HP quality, well at least not since the mid 90's. But the quality of the company and service. This has been an issue through past jobs too with HP machines, most offices just over paid someone internally to fix the HP machines themselves. One thing the Gov't got right on a large scale, that I have experienced, was when they moved towards large amounts of PC's, they went Dell and have continued to do so far a while.
  2. All of our printers/copiers/fax machines at work are HP. We have all the service manuals for these things, but it's a joke. For one problem, there are 50 possible solutions and none are concrete. If you call HP support, only half of the people actually know anything about the machines. Even the techs that come out to repair them can't fix them. We ship them back to get refurbed and they come back DOA, ALL THE TIME. It took a lot of time and effort to get someone who enunciated normal English words. (ie. not outsourced Indian CS).
  3. I would not run that amp below 2 ohms.
  4. The RL-s, has high output potential, but does need a decent amount of power and a large enclosure. I think the RL-p might be the better choice for this install.
  5. Big undertaking. Look forward to more pictures.
  6. I have the BLA for my 8053, but have not installed it.
  7. These account improvements are thanks to the $$$ dedicated server.
  8. I thought it was funny that they were trying to get us to believe that a warranty and recall were the same thing.
  9. If output is your #1 goal, the BTL will be it. As for power, the 1500 or so the SAE-1200D does, will be plenty for the BTL.
  10. My Wife > HP. Cliffs: Exactly a one year old HP machine, (vista 64-bit dual core yadda), has a 500gig Seagate internal HD. The HD has a recall on it, it fails 14 days after the one year warranty. Three levels of HP customer service people tell us that because it did not fail within the one year warranty time, they will not honor the recall. Me and wifey were le pissed! Wifey calls up and emails HP corporate, they call back extremely apologetic. They are shipping us a shipping box to put the machine in to ship back to them and they will repair in with in 4 days and ship it back. Moral of story, don't by HP if you need a PC and you plan to use it.
  11. my father in law gave me an amazing 50 port(I think) buisness switch. I need to hook that bad mutha up. my entertainment system alone has 3 units that need it the PS3 the yammi Z7 and xbox. 3 tower pc's in the house, buisness class printer, few lappy toppys that i woulf love to have hard line capable just in case wireless porn surfing isn't as quick as I need when the mood strikes, and i dont feel like making the long walk down the stairs.... We could use some of the CPU power crunching for SETI.USA.
  12. Ok great. That leaves us with: Unit #3, Mint MAW-15 in new box. Unit #4, Intact IXL 18.4 with mis-aligned coil.
  13. Ehh, not sure. It is possible if you want to try, but I would not suggest it. Would probably be best to just get an entire new top assembly. its worth a shot, and if i do ill just pick up a new top assembly. could this be build into like a 10 since i already have a spare 10" basket here? That I am not sure of, but I don't see why not. I would suggest emailing Mach5 to find out any specifics in terms of rebuilding. It is a 2" coil motor, but as for specs, I don't have them.

  19. SSA member account news for all members and staff. Due to the major up grade in software to 3.0, followed by the move to a dedicated server, then by the the security update, I was able to do some member account adjustments. I fixed the reputation feature ( +, - ) usability, please do not abuse this feature, or we will turn it off. A few member and/or moderator groups have more: PM space storage image upload space signature banner size reputation allowed to give I had to decrease some of the member groups signature length as we want to keep the board tidy and running smooth, and not look trashy like some of these other car audio sites with numerous distractive banners or loads of links in members signatures that make the board load very slowly and stretch very long. For non-staff member groups, a few limits will increase with posting and membership time. Meaning with the current non-staff member groups: 0-25 posts = New Member with very low limits 26-1000 posts = Member with normal account limits 1001+ posts = SSA Regular member with near moderator account limits Again, just another part of SSA we are always working to improve and adapt for the member base as we want to continue to have the best running, best moderated, best built, best informed, best looking, and best feature filled forum in the car audio world, period.

It is an idea we have not looked at yet. We still have plenty of shirts, hats, and stickers.
  21. Welcome to SSA, there is nothing to hope for as SSA has long been one of the most knowledgeable sites period.
  22. Hello Jefferson. Steve from Maryland, has already emailed us and I am awaiting his reply. As said above, do not use this site for marketing the product unless approved by an admin.
  23. I almost snagged an '87 535is. That would be an awesome motor for your car if you do a swap.
  24. In my experience, professionally, that is very true.
  25. That port is no joke!!
