Welcome to SSA. There is no such thing as under powering speakers, and having less power then RMS will not blow the sub. Both of those are two insanely false myths that people seem to keep spreading and believing.

Welcome to SSA. Surprised he did not say an even more expensive model. Yikes, for daily needs, no need to spend $750 on a SPL competition woofer when you are using this for daily listening. You can use a pair of 15's and have greater surface then a single 18.

That is what I was getting at, keep the BTL's just recone them to 18.

I agree, a well braced box for normal listening will be the best way.

If you are looking to push more power, just get the BL.

well what size box do you recommend for a xcon 15" 3.5 is a good start, if you want to go up to 4.25 or so, that is fine.
