That picture is of just the basket. He uses that old basket for a cut out template as the baskets are exactly the same. He is not putting in or taking out soft parts. Moving this to correct section.

That is due to the excessive amount of marketing JL Audio does and can afford to do. That does not say that JL i snot a good choice at all, it is saying you should never think one company is superior because a bunch of idiots on a TV show shove it in the face of the audience, because they are paid to do so, means that it is the best product because of that. It is not a thing of one being so much better then the other. It is two different drivers with different design intentions, and different price points, and customer base, and availability and so on. You can't just say a blanket statement like that. Part of what is slowly killing the positive part of car audio.
