  1. From many recent reviews, a good number of people have reported back that that series of amplifiers do not do ratted power. Plus just because they are ratted at 170 rms, does not mean you need to send that much power to them. A quality 50x4 or 100x4 amp with a half decent crossover would be plenty.
  2. It is actually finished, just needed to post interior shots for a few doubters. Thanks for the postive words, means more coming from a professional builder. I have been telling everyone it is a .5 @ 33hz because it is nice round numbers, but it is really .55 -.57 @ 32hz. It has been a while that I have sanded this much and used zero screws. The sad thing is I have to do a ton of sanding because at our current house, in the above pictures you are looking at the entire extent of my work shop. When I have some extra time I will go back and pour in the resin corner curves.
  3. As I am a little unclear with what you are asking. I can tell you this based off of the topic, you don't need to run speakers near or at or even over their rms wattage ratting to get good performance. As they are a good price, their quality has seemed to be in question, the Hi Fonics amps that is. One member here, ///M5, is a proponent of using the same budget and looking for high quality/featured amplifiers used.
  4. Wow that was obscure.
  5. Because I did not see a mention of going after tenths on a db mic, do you really need to run all that power if you are just looking for a pair of subs that can "hit the lows" well?
  6. Was just going to mention those.
  7. I tend to steer away from XBL2. Details ? Personal preference and I guess some what comes with it. SSA will not have an XBL2 driver.
  8. I think they have a high Qts.
  9. There was plans to, but the way the specs mapped out, the enclosure size would have been approaching RL-s territory. But we do have 18's in the pipe line (other then the ones posted earlier).
  10. I vote Q as I tend to steer away from XBL2.
  11. Why not send out a few samples to a couple of the athletes here and see how they feel?
  12. I still suggest you take a peak at them.

Nothing crazy like some of the guys over at the PG forum but I just have a few Titanium amps laying around. Just sold a ZX475ti. A 12in Xmax, Old EQ215X, A brand new still in box TBBKF4 fused distribution block, some RCA's, 1/0 gauge wire, terminal, etc... Selling most of it. My 600.2 and 500.4 are a perfect matching set so I don't want to part with them. The amps are under each seat in this ride so I don't mind running something that doesen't match. I still was unable to find a spec on the Sundown 1000D on what the efficiency is @ 1 ohm? I know my ti600.2 is less that 50% efficient. I am glad you made it over to SSA.
  14. That place is horrible, look at their domain name and number of posts, then notice how we have 3x that. Shame because what could be done with that domain.....
  15. I drink nearly 72oz. of water a day, just the filtered out of the fridge door free kind.
  16. 500 is plenty.
  17. Side note, if you are considering 10's, I would highly suggest you jump on the killer deal Sundown is running on the SD-1 v2's. $460 = 4 very good American made drivers. Heck, I found out that even the coils were wound here in the USA.
  18. There is a shop vac in the corner.
  19. It takes time, but I enjoy the results.
  20. You can build a 1.0 even box and it will be just fine. As Sean mentioned, try out the polyfill and find the sound you like.
  21. When I am able to get a hold of our build house and get the mini run going I will get the list together for the SSA members who want one. But in the mean time, here is a pair of pictures of the interior of the box so you can see there are no tricks. I can take a shot of the driver in its box here soon, just need time with day light and no rain, and for me to have both at the same time is very rare.
  22. Very nice work.

    Yikes, nice score.

Port it, tune the enclosure to about 30-33hz and give it a clean 750 or so watts.
