  1. Welcome to SSA.
  2. Side note, and nothing to do with the MAG, but the Icon does not need tons of power to sound good. There are a few Icon owners running less the 500 watts and love it.
  3. Looks awesome, great box build. Just wait until it breaks in Wkb.
  4. Good luck trying to get anything covered on the warranty.
  5. Car looks great!!
  6. Both look great.
  7. On this day in 1990, President George H. W. Bush posthumously awarded Jesse Owens the Congressional Gold Medal. In 1910, Henri Fabre became the first person to fly a seaplane (the Fabre Hydravion) after taking off from a water runway near Martigues, France. And in 1802, Heinrich Wilhelm Matth
  8. If that is the XTR model, I think it is. It has been a while since I hooked one of those up. Helotaxi might know for sure.
  9. Good luck to any SSA people that go!!
  10. Very detailed review Sean. I just hope people will read it. Seems like the IXL line still has not been noticed by the car audio crowd yet.
  11. ///Sean, I have to make one adjustment, I would rather have new TATAS then used TATAS.
  12. I have the Orion, and it has been solid as a rock for me and we have used it for stress/abuse testing SSA drivers. There are a good number of people that ran it at .5 ohms and have done well. What I am confused about is how a pair of Arsenals are going to get to .5 ohms since they are D4, unless you ordered special versions. The issue with the Orion's was that people did not have the electrical system to support such a powerful amplifier, or they did not have the experience or know how to use it, and then there would be voltage drops and kaboom. So holy crap it must be a crummy amp! Sorry no, user error. john mentioned some good ideas with upgrading the electrical system to support the amplifier. Big3/a few strong deep cycle batteries/ and maybe a bigger alternator. In my opinion, unless you are worried about scores on a TL mic, its not worth it. Run it at a higher ohm load and put less strain on the system and get more life out of the amp and subs.
  13. eD amps are ok I guess, but owned and run by very questionable people and that topic has been covered to death. But if I were you, I would check ebay for the Cerwin-Vega EXL1200 if you want quality 1200 watt power. Designed by the same people that did ARC and Zapco, one that is superior to eD or HiFonics. Personally, I would also like to mention the Sundown SAE-1000D if you saved up a few more dollars, small foot print and sturdy 1000+ watt amp with awesome track record. If not, contact Jason Paul of Cadence, and see about a discount price on the TXA-1000. So to sum that ramble up: IMO quality/performance per dollar: CV/Sundown/Cadence >> HiFonics/eD I used to like HiFonics when Mr. Mantz built them a while back. But in recent years I have seen too many disappoint or go poof with very little strain. Their company focus changed drastically from solid quality products to heavy promotion and mid level quality at best.
  14. 35hz is fine, just give the sub good clean power and plenty of port and it will impress. When you start tuning above 40hz or so, that is when most people will start to notice the lowest of lows missing. With automotive applications, there is not much need to tune a ported box much farther below 25hz, largely because very little recorded music is played that low, and at that point you might as well build a good sealed box instead.
  15. Best answer yet!
  16. From what I gather, the Nightshade and BTL have the same end goal. But with the Nightshade being spanking new, I don't anyone has been able to compare them yet. Jacob would be the best person on the Nightshade details.
  17. The MTX 1500 watt model would be a good match.
  18. Looking good so far.
