  1. get the 200. for me i can get a 180 and a 200 amp alt. difference between the 2 is 20 bucks.. so i'm going to get the 200.
  2. is this the first time using an amp on that HU? since you have a pioneer i do have a feeling that the pre-amp voltage is down. while having a cd playing go into the audio settings. look for something that says FM Level/SLA/AUX, i can't say what it really is on that model but if you find something similar turn it up. at first with my HU i very similar problem of getting really low output with my gains being super high. after tinkering and tinkering i found that the setting mentioned is what controls the voltage output for the pre-amps. on mine it goes up to 4, which sends out it's 4volt pre-amp output.
  3. x2 on checking the remote turn on lead wire coming from the hu. check and see if your turn on lead wire is pinched or broken if hidden under trim. usualy the wire used is quite thin and can be broken fairly easy. use a dmm to read a signal from the hu then check for a signal at the amp the amp. also not knowing what headunit you are running but is the remote turn on lead hooked up to a motorized antenna lead? try turning on the "radio" instead of a cd or such to see if the amp turns on.
  4. not knowing what HU you use but the only thing i can think of is the your pre-amp output voltage is turned down.
  5. it should not cost much to build yourself a sealed box for the 12. try and build one and experiment on how it sounds also with the position of where the sub faces. you will most likely lose some output switching from ported to sealed but gain some clarity out of it. so really if you got the tools and like 20 bucks for wood, go for it.
  6. well i wasn't looking for frequencies in the upper 50's as my freq cut off from the head is set to 50hz, though where i feel it is lacking is in the 40 to 50 range. i find a lot of songs that have low beats in the 42+hz range are bare unlike the low beats in like the 33hz range. i'm going to keep measuring around to see how much more air space i could gain from the spare tire area to gain the 8cu. thanks for the input!
  7. well i suppose my main question is would it be possible to create a box for 2 15's in a space of 38Wx17Hx28L, with a 6x15.5 center port opening? iirc i read somewhere that when 2 speakers share the same chamber it is ok to cut down on some of the air space which is why i was looking at 6cu after displacement. i could bump up to 7-9cu using the spare tire areawhich is no biggie. also what i need to know is a port opening of 6x15.5 enough for the 2 speakers? i have already run my 15 in a 4cu@30hz mdf box and my 5.5cu@29-31hz fg enclosure and well the sub gets damn low. yet it's lacking some on the upper frequencies which is why i'd like to tune it a little higher.
  8. so in a month or 2 i will be starting on my rebuild to run 2 old style XXX15's, 2 sundown saz-1500d's and other goodies i haven't decided yet(sound deading, comps and such). well, what my plan is on running these is to seal my trunk off from the cabin. for the box i want to forward fire it along with the port. from where i see it the baffle will sit 2-3 inches from the rear seat opening. the trunk space i have available is 40" wide, 17" tall, and about 29" deep. though for the size enclosure I'm going for about 6cu before displacement. i believe i have about 8-9cu before displacement total. here is a quick sketch i drew up on a graph paper. each cube length stands for 1" the red line is the opening space from the back seat. so just imagine the box sitting 3 inches behind it. well, for the port i want it sitting in between the subs. inch by inch if i place everything right i could get a 6"x15" up to 6"x15.5"(counting 3/4mdf) where i need help with is how long should i set my port or a recommended box volume? what I'm going for is tuning around 33-34hz. anyone have any idea what would be better or what size the port should be? i've been searching for a very long time to see what other people run 2 XXX's 15's at but can not find anything. plus, "XXX" isn't search friendly.
  9. coil configuration would help too.
  10. oops, stupid photobucket. this is the last vid, i mixed it up on the last post and reposted 1 vid twice.
  11. well i played with the sub on Saturday. here the vids. first was a quick function test on one saz. hours later a friend and i burped the sub for about 2hrs before i decided to just burn it up. first vid was a flex vid of the car with all windows open. box sat on the folded back seat, port firing to the trunk. the trunk/back window/roof flexed a lot more off the 3.5k than the 15" does on it's 1.5k. pretty awesome. you really had to see it in person to really see how much it did. then a quick burp to show how much air was being pushed out of the ports. lol we used a porn mag that we found in a black bag at an open field we went to. then i got tired and well burned it out. lasted a good 18 seconds worth of 3-3.5k, note the amps are wired down to 1 ohm. on this last vid voltage dropped from 14.0 to 11.6.
  12. 3 pics for now. working on the box right now, only going with 2 4" pvc ports to 45hz. lol 2ft 4" pvc is 8 bucks so i'm nto spending big on this. will put on wire terminals on tonight and a dustcap. i'm sure you guys might find the dustcap amusing if it fits for cones diameter.
  13. hehe joo download too much i113g41 thingz tis true.
  14. well i just recently moved and had no intrawebz or cable for 3 days and well, i got damn bored. so i put some stuff together that i had laying around and well created me a hybrid perhaps? lol. i had my 04 XXX motor sitting around and well from my previous SX12 i still had the cone/coil assembly just hanging out. so i decided to put them together. the coils still threw a reading from the SX12 and everything was still in tact, the cone, spider. surround. right now it has new leads and spider is being glued to the basket. tomorrow i will take a 2.2cu sealed box i have set for a 15 and mount a new baffle over the original to accomodate the 12. i'm going to also cut 3-4, four inch holes to run 4 inch ports and maybe tune it to 40-45hz. i'll then take my 2 saz-1500d's and well, burp the chit out of it. lol. i have no meter so i can't say how loud it will be. all i know is it will be fun and loud. pics come tomorrow.
  15. mines wide..... cause i run 2 20" monitors. and yes they are indepenant screens on the same computer off the same video card.
  16. i currently run 1 1500d on a stock alt 80AMP, a small battery up front(honda/acura size) and a red top in the back. my voltage is stable around 12.0 on the setup but that's cause honda's have a gay ECU :/ though i've never had my voltage drop below 11.7.. for now definately get a second battery and run a big 3. then get an alt for later when you get a second 1500d

WAO, the prices on the XXX's and the MT's are very tempting. specially a 15"MT. too bad i'm broke. and already have my system lined up.

for the longest time i pronounced it FEE not FIE.
  19. i download about 90% of my music. though the bands/artist thati really like i support them by buying some of their gear. like shirts or vinyls.
  20. lol i was going to type that yesterday but i didn't. one thing though i thought that BMW's had a Ski hole to slide your skiis in. em, couldn't you just open the entire skii hole and not have to port it into the cabin like that? is the box mounted to the floor or is it being held in place by the port?
  21. can you describe how this horrible sound is? like loads of distortion or slapping or scratching or something? can you get us pics of how it's wired? did you re adjust your amp setting to accomodate the sub? you can't use the same settings on a new sub from an old subs.
  22. ^^ that's cool Denim, is there a way to allow us(the users) to modify/customize the 22 quick clickables to what the user would perfer or uses more often? would be nice.
