Build log for 1996 Chevy Lumina- The Blue Fury
Theyre pretty much finished. All I have to to is drill the pilot hole in the 4 corners of each for the anchor screws. Once that is done, 2 more magnets right above the screws to attrack each other for a total of 16 magnets per block. Next on the list is to replace most of the 0g wire with 4/0. Then put in the other 2 amps and test locations for the front speakers. Here is what Im thinking but not absolute. (middle seat perspective)

Midbass/Doors
For mine, Im thinking 2 of the 2mm sheets of plexiglass bonded together. Lightweight, relatively easy to cut, sturdy enough to anchor it with screws, $10 max, and I can see through it.

Midbass/Doors
Im in the same boat, but I have no problem with the 'how', just the why do it? Ive read to seal it, but the door becomes no where to sealed after the hole is covered. Soo is there any other reason?

Brushing resin on inside of box
To be most accurate, I suggest proportional sizes. I'm not sure that a 2"x10"x.75" mdf covered in resin will hypothetically produce the same results as 20"x10"x.75" (a smaller common enclosure panel). If you change the size of the piece, that you would have to change the layer of resin to the same proportions as well as the thickness of the MDF. regardless of size my "data" i guess you could call it proves it made it stronger. so a bigger piece of wood will just yield higher break weights. Point in case, it did strengthen it For those sizes, yes. The proof is definitely not there yet since the resin layer is NOT proportional. Next semester, I'll see if I can use an actual machine with commonly sized panels. I want to clarify that I am not saying it is or isn't stronger, just throwing some important factors out there.

Brushing resin on inside of box
Wow I actually know a little something about this from some college classes. I'm not going to contradict anyone who said that adding resin will make it weaker because I have no actual experience with it and have never seen any tests/plots. But it seems to me that it would lean more towards making the wood stronger. Correct me where I'm wrong. In the tests where the resin+mdf failed quicker, the resin layer was probably like 1/16" to 3/8" right? Again, without seeing any tests, the main reason I could think of for this would be that the resin (still in liquid form) soaked into the MDF and ended up making the mdf less dense. So in doing this, it took away from the distance between the neutral axis of tension and compression © and moment of inertia (I) making the yield strength of the MDF panel less. If this was compensated by making the resin layer much thicker, (.75" - 1"), then I would think that there would be a definite rise in the yield strength of the MDF panel. But since this isn't practical (And especially since the properties of a MDF are better suited for 'panel-like' situation), another panel of MDF is added. Plus I don't know the mechanical propertied of a sheet or panel of solid resin, so this may be false. agree? Now adding rope and other stuff to the panel to add resin to will make it stronger, just like adding another piece of wood roughly the size and shape of the rope. This changes the I of the panel, thus changing the yield strength. You all know it, that's why you brace toward the empty area of the panels.

Plasma Speaker
Pretty neat, but I dont know if the costs and risks are worth the output (at this time)

8 db gain :) :) :)
I like Audio Innovations, they hooked me up with my hertz midbasses with the cheapest price I've seen over the internet or in person. I hope you got to see the hummer before it left the shop.

You think YOUR setup is nice?
This is the point where it's better to have no bass than hurting bass. A week is not a long time.

Why do you all love 10" subs ?
I can only fit one 10" in my trunk for the box I wanted for it. Totally a space issue for me.
