  1. you probably clipped it and it got too hot from the bad signal. The SSDs can handle that amp easy.
  2. for just 30 more dollars you could have had a brand new ap30001d with a year warranty.
  3. why? everything is made overseas.
  4. if you don't have much experience and low on cash then get the SSD. Even though its Fi's entry level. It can get loud. there is someone that does 150s with 2 10" SSDs with 3000 watts. So don't underestimate the SSDs. The BLs will get louder with more power handling too.
  5. lol. and my 2cent is in my sig as well.
  6. give Rob a call at DC Power. Their website doesn't show any alternators for my car but he has them. So call...
  7. I still feel, you come off as just a sarcastic dick. Not saying you are one, but that is exactly whats coming off. I of all people know the importance of a good enclosure and install. I had my two 10" JL w1's and had friends with similar setups. Mine came correct, it was tuned right, the box was the right size, and the install was clean. Despite others having maybe better subs or a better amp, my shit hit... it hit pretty damn hard. I know the importance of good installs and enclosures, but I believe without quality product to go along to go with quality craftsmanship it is just not up to par when going against an alright sub with a nice enclosure. Well yeah that is true but not the same thing as what we are talking about, nobody said a bad quality product in a good enclosure will beat out a good quality product in a good enclosure. A bad quality product will do and sound good in a good enclosure, basically any subwoofer in a good enclosure has the tendacy to sound good. Yeah somewhat might come off as something but why get emotional and name call (thats a womens trait). These are just words over the internet, if they get to you or under your skin then the real world will eat you alive. Stop looking at how someone says something and take whatever advice or information that they type as what it relevant, the only way you can tell how he is coming off is if you were in his mind while he was typing it and knew how he meant it. I understand where he is coming from. M5 does sound like a sarcastic dick sometimes. I do too though after going through many threads of dumb questions or lazy asses that dont search first. Emotions cannot be seen through the keyboard. However, you do need to stop with that comment. What if he is actually a she? The comment comes off condescending to women.
  8. what happened to the RE SX?
  9. well it will depend on which comp and what class as well. If you are going to be in a class that limits power like MECA limits fuse size then less coils would be better. However, if you want a daily ground and pound then more coils would be less likely to heat up. I'd do the two SXs if you have the space for them and your main goal is daily.
  10. cone area is right. but depending on the amount of power you send to each set-up and what you want to do with the set-up will dictate if more coils is better or not. There is a lot that goes into it. Is this daily or for a competition?
  11. easy. I tested for a long time and they didn't even get hot. And I know what you mean with the alternator problem. My ECU turned the alternator really down low or off at idle so it sucked but get to talking with DC Power and you can get hooked up. Tell Rob at DC Power I sent you.
  12. love mine. I'd buy more if I needed it. Heres a link to a new testing just done by someone else on another forum Real World AP3000D Tests !!!! - Car Audio Classifieds I think those subs would take the power with no problems. Get them to be able to wire down to 2 ohms. I know the SX can handle some power. I'd recommend a high output alternator though.
  13. what will make this forum stand out to where members from other home audio forums would want to join?
  14. There has been many of us that bought the audiopipe amps and none of us has had anything like that.
  15. they make a 3000 too. and you can find them on ebay all day. go for the ap1800d or ap30001d. the ap30001d is rated at 2 ohms, but you will need electrical power to back it up or you will get a burnt amp. I got my 3000 and 1500 off ebay from a trusted seller that offers 1 year warranty.
  16. get the ap1800 then if your going to get that hifonics 2000 and running it at 2 ohms. the ap1800d is right under 200 shipped. I wouldn't consider any of those other amps besides the hifonics.
  17. I'm going to install it tomorrow. I think it uses a stock size pulley because Rob said that I can use the same belt.
  18. pm shizzzon for box designs.
  19. how many other systems have you listened to that hit in the 140s? I really doubt you were hitting 145db.
  20. well, i think they only come in single 4 ohms right now. so you want an amp that does around that at 2 ohms. and the ap1800d does rated at 1 ohm and not 2 ohms. talk to mach5 and see if they have other voice coil configurations because I haven't looked at the website for a while and its down right now. I just remember seeing somewhere that he is adding dual voice coils too I think. But you would probably have to look at kickers or something else.
  21. the mj's are like 150 shipped I think. thats the best price performance you can get. plus with 18s you aren't going to need a lot of power to get loud so theres no need for large electrical upgrades. get about 1500-1800 watts and your set. build the box as big as you can.
  22. what? If you want high efficiency amps, you may want to look else where. Also, any dampening factor over 20 is fine. There was an article somewhere on here about dampening factors. OP, search it in the technical section and read it.
  23. its all car and user dependent. I have designed a 10" iXL sub box for a 2002 mustang and it fits perfectly fine through the trunk opening with some room. It is 1.9 cubes gross. But like I said the trunk has plenty of space, its the trunk opening.
