  1. I never said anything about common sense. If everyone had common sense and put it to good use on the road then, fuck, we wouldn't need laws. But that is not reality is it? Making someone more cautious and aware would make them drive better for those around them. I wish everyone has common sense to drive safely but thats not going to happen is it now? Dude, you keep restating that you understand what I am saying but you don't. You think that I will take a radar detector over common sense? No. This is going nowhere, as you cannot comprehend what I am getting at. You are stuck on common sense as an ideal. Get it through your head, that not everyone is going to drive with common sense. That is why we have accidents.
  2. Being a better driver is going to last over a large time period and not just two seconds of major beeping in the car. Like ///M5 said the only time he uses the radar is if his attention is distracted and that is it (I also agree you should be more attentive if you are speeding or breaking the law, I mean personally be more attentive and not using a device - that makes you a better driver). That was not what I got from his post. His radar detector is not his eyes for other things besides the cops. It is what he does from the radar beeping that will make him safer and those around him. And I'd rather have people be better drivers for a little amount of time then no time at all.
  3. You still don't get what I am saying. I am not saying people get radar detectors to run red lights. I am saying that those that usually will speed up to get through before the red light will not speed up pass the limit if they think a cop is nearby watching. It stops some people from doing what they would do if there was not a cop around. You are still going off your own habits. It is great that you drive defensively, but can you say that for everyone else out there? Its like saying everyone can put 5k watts to a Nightshade because the sub was fine for you. Other people will have tendencies to up the gain or send clipped signal to the sub or are a volume knob warrior. For clip indicators, people that have them can see when the signal is getting clipped and they will be safer and turn it down if they want to save their sub.
  4. That is a video of the news report on the hacking. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFwT1pzY6Yk&feature=player_embedded I wonder if anyone has thought about the earth going in cycles and fixing itself. Like before the ice age and then after the ice age. ?
  5. If he's more attentive and cautious when his radar is going off, that would mean he is better at driving, to the extent of the law.
  6. Okay, you are not getting what I am trying to say. Not everyone will drive like they are suppose to. Not everyone will drive safely and follow the road rules. So if these people that think of nothing but to get pass red lights and to their destination about 5 minutes earlier, didn't have radars they will still speed. I am saying that some of these people will drive safer or try to and follow the rules when the radar is going off. They will not run red lights or speed when they think there is a cop around. I am not saying that radars are going to stop the road accidents or retards from making bad decisions on the road. It can decrease the amount of time that people drive like crazy or disregard the law. Would you drive faster or recklessly in front of a cop? Just saw your post ///M5. That is about what I am saying with the radar detectors. I guess I chose my words wrong with "better drivers".
  7. 1.9 cubes net tuned to 34hz. Its weird that I have a trend of boxes with the 34hz tune lol. This is for an eclipse convertible so space is a big issue. But yeah, sub up port to the rear. flush mount and all rounded outside corners. 40.5 in^2 of port. I wanted to go more but space was an issue again.
  8. Dude, you keep saying should should should, but do people do it? Does everyone drive attentively and safely? Hell no, retards are all out there. With a radar, those bad drivers will be more inclined to drive safely and follow the laws more when they think there are law enforcers nearby. It is common sense that everyone SHOULD drive safer. Shit, its common sense that everyone SHOULDN'T kill or steal but does it happen still? Yeah. I'm done too. Sorry OP, had to get my point across. Jay-cee, we can open a thread about this if we need to continue.
  9. I didn't say myself now did I? I say it makes some other people better drivers because most radar detectors will pick up almost anything and go off, and people don't exactly speed up or fuck around when their radar is going off do they now? This makes them more attentive and follow the driving laws better which in turn makes them better drivers at those moments when the radars are going off.
  10. cannot wait for this either. I really like the flat black look. I think everyone should have a radar detector. It makes a lot of people better drivers.
  11. Get a deka 9a31 or NGT extreme if you can find them locally they may be cheaper but the same thing as the deka. I don't think you need a high output alternator but I wouldn't blast it all the time.
  12. how did you put the polyfill inside the box? It is said to have it loose inside the box but firm against the walls. You want the air to be able to move throughout the polyfill. I actually pulled the polyfill apart a little and then glued it to the walls when I used it for a 12" SSD box.
  13. Cost is a determining factor in most of my builds.
  14. Usually, if you have to ask then you either didn't look at the info on Fi's website, TECH section, or you should just stick with manufacturer's rating.
  15. did you mess up that hdc3 sub?
  16. o and add two d3100s or the likes batteries.
  17. test, test... and test some more
  18. dc power XP line FTW
  19. Okay, so it was installed a couple weeks ago. I forgot about the review. lol. Well, at first the sub sounded great. The low end was amazing. I was a little disappointed in the top end, I am guessing more top end bass near midbass was desired. Well, I figured out the problem. The low pass was set too low. lol. I turned it up to about 120 and it was a lot better. The girlfriend loves it. This was an upgrade for better output on the low end from two 12" SD-V1 subs in a sealed box. She has a little bit more trunk space as well. There was one thing I didn't like as much but it was her car and preference and not the sub. Her rear deck speakers were way louder than her door speakers. I tried to level it out for a better front stage but she didn't like it. lol. But its her setup so she likes it the way it is. Also, at a local meet we tested to see how well she does on the mic just for kicks. She did a 134dB at the kick and like 130dB at the headrest ( I am not possible with the headrest score). It was a while back. So yeah, this was a great build and I recommend this sub and the ap1500 amp to anyone wanting something for the cost. Box with a lot of mdf left over and carpet - $35, amp - $150 shipped, sub used - $75 shipped.
  20. really, 5dBs? Thats pretty naive to think that. OP, Have a good port area. That will help a lot with getting louder. With the same power and other same constants, the higher cone area setup will be louder. Really, getting louder with whatever will depend on testing. That is the biggest part of getting loud.
  21. I vote for Qs even though they are not on the list.
  22. if your going sealed then prefabbed is not a bad idea.
  23. no you gotta figure 8 that shit.
  24. I still am astonished at how much room that GEO has lol.
