Yeah, I would stay away from Hifonics. The only reason I didnt sugguest 1/0 is because the Hifonics only accepts a 2ga.
  2. Alright, so we're looking at a street beater type car here. I'll probably be running the 1500D @ 1/2 an ohm, which puts me somewhere over 1500 watts. Now as I understand it, the SSD tends to accentuate the low-lows, while not being as loud on the higher lows. How does the Q stack up to that? I'm looking for a sub that will get loud, and get low. Then, I'm not adverse to a sealed box, but I was wondering how much it will reduce my SPL. As mentioned above, I like to get loud. Sealed looks particularly enticing because of the smaller box needed.
  3. I'm not entirely sure that one BL will take 2kw. It might, but I haven't read up on it.
  4. Yeah, that might help some. Anything you can do to keep the movement of the amp down.

If you like real powerful bass, why not go with a Sundown SAZ-1500D pushing a Fi Q (with cooling) in a ported box? That should get loud as !@#$, but it will be more then $600. The BXi1206D might be a bit much for the SSD, as it is rated at 800 watts, and maybe a little more then 1000w with cooling. If you keep your gains down, it should be alright though. I might suggest 2 gauge wire to the 1206D too, to minimize any voltage drop, and make sure that things don't start getting messy, especially since you said you like real powerful bass.
  6. yeah, it's not recommended, but if you have to do it, you can If you do it, try and have the amp mounted over a brace, where vibrations should be minimal.
  7. I would avoid mounting the amp to the sub box if possible. Some say that the vibrations from the box can rattle parts loose over time. My precious amp is staying on the floor.
  8. Nothings wrong, its just that welding cable can be cheaper, I think.
  9. 136 amp? Thats an odd figure.
  10. x2 eleventybillion!! x3^2 Man, you've gotta bring that thing to Hawaii for a demo. On second though, perhaps not, you may trigger a volcanic eruption.
  11. Oh yes yes yes. What, you don't like the toasty buttery goodness of croissants? Try taking your favorite sandwich, (Or thin sliced turkey & lettuice if you don't have one) and make it with a lightly toasted croissant instead of sliced bread. Instant bliss.
  12. Aww, sliced bread is overrated. Croissants is where its at.

Hi! I'm Trevor/Steve and I'm Japanese. And I like chopped and screwed music. Maybe you'll make the next "Grippin the Grain" with massive bass.

    Mmmm, pie.

Its Fi, like Hi-Fi. Or Pie. Pie Audio? o.O I'm surprised you didn't think F-I, as in two letters spelled out.
  16. Just wang that chit. Translation: Play the subs how you would normally, and have fun!
  17. Hmm. It looks kinda like those placeholder sites with the fakey search engines. Think something like this site: http://expired.revenuedirect.com/park.php?...mp;site_id=4798 I think the list on the left does it. Other then that though, it looks pretty suave but the grey font on blue background is hard to see.
  18. I love vinyl, even though I'm not one of those hardcore vinyl junkies. It sounds so nice, and the crackle you get with an old record before the beginning of the song makes it feel so real. Goodwill has 99 cent records, sweet.
  19. I'm reluctant to tell you "yes" since I don't warranty that... but it will likely work fine. What really hurts the amp is voltage drop resulting from the significantly increase current draw at 1/2 ohm vs. 1 ohm -- the amp is also more sensitive to this sort of thing when wired under 1 ohm. So just watch that voltage, keep it over 12. Haha thanks Jacob. I understand the warranty-voiding-fun that this could be, and the power-supply-blowing horror it could turn out to if done wrong. I'll buy a nifty voltmeter and keep an eye on it. And thanks to everyone else!
  20. Alright. If I keep the volume knob down, and keep an eye on my voltages, it should be alright though, hm?
  21. Congratulations! Lets see if 150 can be broken!
  22. Would an electrical system comprising of a 100A alt, two yellow tops, and 0/1 throughout support a 1500D @ .5 ohm?
  23. I think he wants a high voltage output so that the Signal-to-Noise ratio at the amp will be higher.
  24. For some reason, I like that install.
  25. Nah, I don't think you need to recone the old one.
