anyone with DD audio experience
don't get me gents, you have too understand I am comparing them too my lms ultra, re xxx, older q, and a few xbl^2 subs. it is not of freq. response that bothers me, I'm tuned at 30hz and it has a very smooth roll off. it is the tonal quality I don't like when turned at normal levels 110 to 130 db when turned up louder you really can't tell transits are great over hang is not present it just sounds a bit dull are hollow sounding I just wondering what could be done outside of eq

I was assuming it would be heavier, and have a slightly better damping.

anyone with DD audio experience
about a yr ago I bought a couple of used 9500's with the full composite cone. I finally have gotten around too testing one, and I am impressed with the amount of effeiciency, considering how much power one is known to handle. what I am wondering is, if I were to recone them with DD pulp cones would that help warm up the tone a bit? when listening too rap or anything with mostly sinewaves they sound fine. when listening too metal, rock, or classical they sound almost lifeless. so if anyone has had a chance to test them with both cone materials please chime in

Got my Icon in the mail today.
i might get trashed for this, but it needs to be said. first off i tested the first gen icon, and loved it, and i am sure the products are still as great as they were back then. testing subs for my own personal satisfaction is what i am about. i do not work for any audio company, nor am i sponsored by any company. i have had in the past 5 + years close too 60 different subs in my possession, so i have a large amount of subs shipped too my house. i do not know what is ssa's destruction rate on shipments, and even if it is low i understand business philosophy, and if the cost of beefing up packaging is greater than the rate of product being damaged in shipping, then you do nothing about packaging. But the packaging shown in those pics, whether damage rates or low or not is a massive fail in my opinion.

My thoughts exactly. When I think of the word legendary and subwoofers I think of something along the lines of the first gen strokers. That fits the definition of legendary. - 4th Annual Fry's Electronics USACi/Bass Battles Texas Final
