The "X"con 12" prototype has arrived
i know it is just a prototype, but i really like the look of single dish cones like re audio, and ascendant audio. but as for the rest i really like what your going for. i like subs that handle alot of power, but can still have a nice broad range. kind of like 2400rms on a single eclipse sw9122, it is a thing of beauty. i was almost about to perform a sin in my book and buy a 13av.2 to give a try. but i am defiantly going to wait this one out instead.

6 4" aero ports & 6 DD1508's?
i believe he is right in my personal experience one 3 inch round port is enough for one 8. i am talking about the actual precision port style with flares. i do not have experience with plain pvc pipe which is more prone to port noise.

6 4" aero ports & 6 DD1508's?
it is a very good rule of thumb. but a suggestion i would go with 6 inch ports so you can go with less. with multiple round ports vs. one or two larger round ports. their can be broad tuning shifts throughout the frequency range, which can cause nasty peaks that speaker programs usually don't predict. for the sake of sq go for less larger ports to achieve your desired port area. go for the largest diameter that box length will allow for.

i would imagine it is for rearward clearance.

Audiopulse Epic 8" Enclosure Questions
thats all it takes for one sealed you can put two . 5 cu. ft. ported and get a good response only prob. is it needs a port like 75 or so inches long. iirc with the motor having such a high bl it will not require a large box, i may be mistaken on this.

Audiopulse Epic 8" Enclosure Questions
small enclosure requirements equals a pretty long port lol. it is fun making a slot port box for them while trying to limit the amount of turns in the port.

Which companies used TC motors?
i have edited my first post alot i am a moron lol that is a extended pole piece which will not interfere with reward excursion. as it is on the inside of the voice coil. the only way it could possible interfere is if it hits the dust cap and i highly doubt that is possible. the pole piece would have to be like 2+ inches above the top plate. sorry i have no idea what i was thinking. Edit: apparently i can't edit my post.

ok first thing first i need to apologize, as my in experience has caused me to miss inform you a little. the threaded adapter and all works but the 3hp from an eclipse has a extended pole piece which will severely limit reward excursion to only about a half of an inch. the reason it works with my 3hp motor i used is because it is a custom 3hp that has a extra half inch of magnet thus making the pole flush with the bottom of the basket. now onto pics eclipse sub sw9122 the threaded adapter same adapter bolted to another basket the adapter would be bolted on the underside of 12 spoke in the same manner now onto the problem see the eclipse 3hp pole will sit to high but this is how the motor will sit on the basket with the threaded adapter. now my custom 3hp in the same scenario, which shows why it worked when i did it. eclipse motor's extended pole piece custom 3hp pole piece so a special adapter still needs to be made to space the motor further away from the basket. so unless you are willing to pay a machinist to machine a extra tall threaded adapter. your going to have to just send it in to fi or who ever for them to do it. and even if you get a adapter made that spaces the magnet far enough away, the company of your choice might still request that you send it in so they can set the coil's depth properly. unless you can get them to sell you all the parts loose, and then you assemble it all by yourself. and again sorry about the slight, but important misinformation.

well it is finished here are the rest of the pics and i have a vid loading on photobucket too. had to make a adapter because the spider's overall diameter was a 1/4 inch shy will post vid as soon as its avail. it is just a freeair so far to check for function. need to build a test box now.

WTH? Am i looking at?
take it easy buddy i was just pointing out the obvious. as in there should be no one who can not tell what it is. although there is alot of controversy over those amps. it is pretty much hands down an excellent burp amp. but there has been alot of folk say they are not worth it for daily use. and a few of those that have said this speak from personal experience. i personally have never owned one so i don't know.

not sure how the top plate is machined on the 8200. but i know for a fact if you get a hold of a complete ti (non pro) it is a 3hp motor which for future reference shares very little with the tc 3000 motor. they just look similar. any way i digress okay try to get at least a motor and basket still attached if you go for the regular ti. reason for this is it has a screw on top assembly, and the factory basket does not have threads machined in it, instead it is a adapter ring with the threads machined in it. which is bolted to the inside of the ti basket. the thing that makes this ring so important is it's bolt pattern is exactly the same as a 12 spoke basket. so that way you want to get a 12 spoke basket and bolt the adapter ring to the out side of the basket, that way when you thread it on the motor the the extended top plate sits flush with the bottom of the 12 spoke basket. and you can just order a 3hp recone and let them know it is already adapted to a 12 spoke. now everything i just said is only important if you want to do the recone yourself, if you don't care about shipping it all you need is a motor and fi will do the rest. and fi makes a really nice 18 inch driver with the 3hp motor. p.s. don't bother with the 4hp or ti pro as alot of companies do not mess with a 4 inch coil. if you want pics to help illustrate what i tried to explain. let me know and i can provide them.

fi bl vs. re audio sx
i have no experience with the bl's but i have owned sx's and they can sound darn good, and get fairly loud. they can take about 1500rms daily some will say they can handle closer to 1800, but that will really depend on the user. a fairer vs. would have been the q's vs. sx's. at which i would give the nod to the fi q's because i think they sound better.

the hard part of reconing them is keeping the original basket. it is hard to find a company using 10 inch spiders that will recone other brand subs. that is why almost everyone either bolts on a standard 12 spoke, or machines a adapter, or motor to adapt a 12 spoke basket. now tc2+, tc7, and tc9 motors are capable of accepting a 12 spoke with no mods. side note some tc9's can.

sundown 3000 at .5 ohm?
individual or strapped is fine as long as each amp does not see under 1 ohm.
-
sundown 3000 at .5 ohm?
i would run at 1 ohm and upgrade electrical to supply 16 volts. that way you maintain warranty.
