Welcome to the IHoP
Here are the big apartments in the Bronx I was talking about. There were at least 3-4 more of these "pods" of buildings continuously down this road. Here are all 12 lanes of the New Jersey turnpike filled with cars. It became stop-and-go for 20 miles when the 12 lanes went down to 6. Brilliant planners! And here is a view off Mount Spruce in Vermont. I wasn't very far up the mountain, had to stay below the fog to get a picture! It was only about a 3,500 foot peak though.

Welcome to the IHoP
I want to win the lottery so I don't have to go to work. My week off spoiled me.

My ABC towers.
looks nice. But does that crossover do 4 ohms for the mid output? Otherwise your crossover for the mids is either at 1.5khz or 6khz (I forgot if halving the impedence halves the crossover or doubles it). Your tweeter crossover point is also not going to be 3khz. I hope it sounds ok in the midrange.

there are distinct advantages to the density however You talking about girls? I suppose that could be one, and probably the only one I could see. But also more douchy dudes to deal with.

Were baffles to extend the driver out of the door not possible?

15.3volt alternator
yeah, that may be a silly thing to do.

lets talk about protect mode...
I'm not sure what head unit he has, but my Alpine only has positive numbers. It goes from 0 to +15. But yeah probably don't want to sent it into protect too many times. Do you know how much voltage is actually getting to the amp? if you only have one of those 600 watt amps, 4 gauge is fine. But you need to find out why it's going into protect. Since you have a DMM, measure the voltage getting to the amp when it's playing at full bore. If you're below 11 or so at the amp, it could be low voltage sending it into protect, and that does wear it out over time. I am starting to think that low voltage is what has caused two of my amps to blow over the last couple of years..... One of my sub amps started losing apparent output before it went, like yours is doing. I don't want to send you into a worry about it, though. You may also maybe just be getting used to the level of bass?

Welcome to the IHoP
18 hours to Delaware, 12 more to Vermont. It was supposed to only be like 7-8 hours up there, but we kept hitting stop-and-go traffic every 2 miles. It was absurd. Of course the minivan was loaded to the gills, and at that long of a trip people tend to get a little cranky. Not me, though. I'm a very good traveler. Found out that I don't really like my gf's brother. He played video games 98% of the time and is not tactful or courteous and oftentimes lazy. and kinda just annoying in the way he speaks (tones and word choices). However, one great thing did come out of the trip, and that's that I want to do everything I can to spend the rest of my life with my girlfriend. We haven't spent that much time together before even though we've been dating almost 3 years, and she really hit me in the blood pumper with how she treated me. Her family didn't always get along great on the trip, and she was in on some of it with them. But she was very gracious towards me. We woke up every morning and just lounged in bed for a while, and it was perfect. I missed it this morning. But there will definitely be some strains on us coming up. She graduates in May and is moving back home for the summer (45 minutes away) before having a 4 month internship 3+ hours away. So it will basically be seeing her probably once or twice a month for those 7-8 months. Then after that she may accept a job anywhere in the US, and I'll have to find out if I can follow her. So it seems perfect right now, but definitely won't be a year from now. Well anyways, sorry for the sappy stuff. Got to snowboard two days, though only one was any fun. The night before the first day it snowed 2-3 inches so there was a great powder on the slopes. Then the next day it got warm and rained, then froze that night. The next day on the slopes was a biiiiiiitch. total ice, with ice balls as large as a softball scattered all over the place. Even running over them with my board wouldn't break them. Yeah, we left the slope after an hour because it just sucked. But what sucked even worse was the $90 lift ticket per day! holy crap! Last time I went, granted it was in Colorado, it was only like 40-50 per day!

Welcome to the IHoP
Got back yesterday from my week+ vacation with the gf and her family. We first went to Delaware, then up north to Vermont for a few days. And I have to say, for those of you who live on the northeast coast, how the hell do you do it? I absolutely hated that place. waaaaaaaay too many people. You can drive from southern Delaware through New Jersey and eastern New York and halfway into Connecticut and NEVER LEAVE A CITY. I felt so claustrophobic. Everywhere I looked there were cars and houses and people. I was like give me an open grassland FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! On the way home we wanted to get near enough to New York to see the skyscrapers (I had never been there), and this too us into the Bronx for the shortest way in and out. wow. there were literally like fifty 20-25 story apartment buildings, wide ones, all next to each other. I mean it looked like there had to be 100,000 people in the space of 10 city blocks. How in the hell can you live like that? Made me appreciate the midwest all that much more.

What's up bitches? Well, only some of you. What did I miss?

SSA dcon specs are a go!
I've always wondered why everybody measures T/S with the coils in series? Granted these are relatively low powered subs so chances of a consumer wiring two in series/parallel to bridge to a 2 channel amp are greater, but it seems most consumers these days just wire everything in parallel since amps are getting cheaper and stable at lower impedences?

What is a signal processor?
it modifies the signal. You can get an EQ, which allows you to adjust the levels of certain frequencies up and down. You can get a crossover, which sends only ideal frequencies to the individual speaker in the system. How much greatly depends on what you're looking for, what options, and what brand. It can be from 20 to 2000 or more, just like amps or subs. You would need one if you want to modify the signal.

Welcome to the IHoP
Going out of town today and tomorrow for work. Gonna be in some cold again today, should be right around freezing I think while I'm out there working in it both days. At least it isn't supposed to be horribly windy like last time. That really gets you cold.

Reconing an hx2 for home use?
What's that? A new monster sub?
-
Audiobahn A1500HCT
chances are about 50% that it'll blow within a year. It used to be about every other day that I'd hear of somebody smoking an AB amp. I don't pay attention to them anymore.

HT Sub
that box won't require polyfill. I had that sub in 3.8 cubes in my car and it sounded outstanding. You can try it, but you wouldn't need it to make the box seem larger is my point. I don't think it has any affect on power handling since it's the airspace inside the box that acts as the "spring" to control the cone. The polyfill just acts on the sound waves after they've already been produced by the sub.
-
How do you tune your headunit?
tune it to what you think sounds good. What does he mean the headunit's crossovers are usually set in the wrong place? If the headunit has crossovers, you can adjust them. So I don't know how they can be set wrong if you set them?

Will I kill my BL's ?
You have to take those stories with a grain of salt. Unless they clamp the amp, there is no way to tell what the amp is actually putting out. They could put a 5000 watt amp on a sub, but you have NO idea what power is actually going to the sub just by looking and listening. There may only be 1000 watts going to it, but people think it handles so much more because of the amp's size and they figure they're using all of it. I'm not questioning either brand or their ability to handle power. But many times the power handling is actually limited by the box, not the actual coil on the sub.
-
wtb amp 500
You won't hear that extra couple hundred watts when you're already around 2000. Plus if you build your enclosure a little larger you can still hit the mechanical limits of the sub with a lower powered amplifier.

Reconing an hx2 for home use?
that amp is definitely not crap. I have it's little brother, the 500 watter, and it's great.

Welcome to the IHoP
my head keeps bobbin as I'm going through threads on here. haha. man I need to go to sleep.

4 15's or 2 18's
your head unit will have two power leads, one that's on all the time, even when the car is off, to save settings and things. The other is only powered when the vehicle is turned on. You can tap that second one for a remote if you want. A switch is ok, but can be a pain. and what if you forget to turn if off one night?

How many more dbs using internal bracing?
To answer the question, it's impossible to tell whether you'll gain anything from bracing. Every box is different as to its needs for bracing and whether or not the meter will tell a difference. Bracing never hurts, though.
