input sensitivity
it's all about matching the gain setting to what's coming in from the head unit. You can set the gain wherever you want as long as the input signal is the same. But in order to have as much play with the head unit volume as possible, yes turn it all the way down to 6 volts.

How to wire up 4ohm components
everything seems to be ok. Try unhooking everything and just hooking one speaker straight to one of the channels. Make it a 4 ohm speaker. It could be one of the mids out of the set, another you have lying around, anything. See if it still shuts off. Try the speaker on both channels. If it does not shut off, the problem is with something in the component set. If it does, something is wrong with the amp or inputs.

Baltic Birch the best?
I'm looking for low weight, basically. Rigidity isn't a huge concern because my box will only be 1 cube and in an L-shape, so all the corners and small panel sizes should make it pretty stiff regardless. I may also add a second baffle on front to countersink the sub. Birch is getting up over 60 dollars a sheet, though (5' x 5'). MDF weighs twice as much and half the price. Is there anything else readily available at most lumber yards that would do the job for less?

Welcome to the IHoP
His bashing and biased is so prevalent, I have no idea how he can be respected as a journalist. If obama gets elected, what in the world is he going to bitch about? His show will have lost its purpose, same thing can be applied to the woman from Air America that MSNBC thinks is worthy of her own show. His politics aside, you have to concede that all Sportscenter anchors are merely pale copies of what Olbermann did for that show. Personally, I think he makes a much better sports broadcaster than a political one. that is true. But you have to admit some of the sportscenter guys are pretty good on their own. Kenny Mayne is the number 1 example.

If it was a year ago, it was probably lost in the data crash. ah, darn those things.

I'd be more worried about Mangino getting hungry and eating people rather than the hurricane getting you... haha. Well I wasn't so much worried about the hurricane getting me as the people in the southeast, but yes Mangino's hunger is a constant concern. Speaking of football coaches, I can't believe your school gave Price an extension. That guy is not a good coach, IMO. At least from the bits I saw and heard of him last year. I don't know if it's true or not, but a friend of a friend is on the team and supposedly the guy said Price basically gave up on the year after the loss to KU.

Welcome to the IHoP
My search didn't find anything either, which is weird. It wasn't my thread though, I commented in somebody else's. But I couldn't go back beyond a couple months, and it was like a topic from a year ago. Anyways, it involved two transformers, one 300 ohm and one 75 ohm. One looks like this: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.js...rentPage=search And the other has two pronged wires that hook into those screws and a female coax cable port.

I'm a little worried about Hurricane Ike. It's already a category 4 and it's still way out there.

ack, gag. It's hard for me to believe somebody is going from a Cobra to an xB. Pretty sure that's never happened before. I could really care less about performance. It's all about making sure I can safely and reliably move my son around. I wasn't even talking about performance. They're just so ugly to me. haha. But I understand the son thing.

Anything else to do b4 install
Do replace the ground wire on the battery. Power and grounds should be the same, because they're a circuit. A weak link anywhere will cause the whole thing to perform worse. Do you know the size of your alternator? I think it's pretty stout. My '98 Explorer with the V6 has a 130 amp alt, I can't imagine yours being smaller. I get dimming when I'm sitting still, but not much if I'm moving. My battery is stock and I haven't upgraded any wires under the hood (bad me, I know). I think you'll be ok.

BTL recone?
I don't know, by the time you pay shipping and the recone costs it could be 150 per woofer. If the're like new you shouldn't have to take off more than 100 per sub to sell them outright. Plus the reconed woofers wouldn't sound and perform exactly like a DP 21.

Kicker L7 Question
pull it out, then ask again. nothing we can do without that, unless it's a box air leak.

Amplifier features
It'll work but you won't be able to turn your head unit volume up all the way. So, for a very general example, if your head unit goes to 50, you may only be able to turn it up to 25 before the preout voltage starts exceeding the amp's input voltage rating.

Component setup help
Since the tweeters would be on separate channels than the mids with the 100.4, you could dial the gain down to match them to your tastes. You don't have to use all 100 watts.

Welcome to the IHoP
I fixed mine with about four dollars in parts from Radioshack. I'm sure I posted a link on a thread somewhere on here that had the part numbers. If you don't find it, remind me tomorrow and I'll look.

RE Audio Component speakers
They'll sound ok just off the deck. They'll be better with an amp obviously, but I think the only real thing you'd be missing out on besides the extra few decibels is the highpass crossover for the mid. You'll likely want to get some kind of filter for them so that they don't bottom out.

Audiopulse Revo Box suggestiions
Why not make it easier and put them in a common chamber? Port placement in that sense doesn't really matter.

Setup for my car
I'd imagine you'll need a larger box than 1.3 cubes for both of those as well. At least 2 cubes net.

Welcome to the IHoP
OK now i'm going to go ride my bike to the store and get some more fishing line. Should probably turn the crock pot off though. Threw in some beef, potatoes, baby carrots, cream of mushroom, and onion flavoring mix. Should be good.
