Welcome to the IHoP
how is coasting hard on brakes? I'm also unsure how engine braking turns off the injectors when doing this raises your RPMs when you first downshift, which I figure would need *more* fuel.

Loud in the doorway???
close your door. hehe

deadening of doors
you should have all the holes covered up on the door panel that the speaker is mounted to. I don't know that you'll feel it very much in your chest, but there should be some noticeable air movement against your pant leg I'd guess.

Welcome to the IHoP
I'm trying to persuade my gf to watch "Toys" with me. I described it as colorful, imaginative, and eccentric, and she said she doesn't like eccentric movies. Any of you seen it?

Welcome to the IHoP
I think I'm going to repay off my car loan pretty soon. I only have about 2,000 left on it. I'd also like to repay one of my student loans, which also has about 2,000 on it. If I didn't repay these loans I'd be making 4 different payments on loans each month pretty soon. yuck. Luckily two of them are only 50/month. Then I'm trying to decide on if I want to save up to pay off my big student loan or for the down payment on a house first. I think I can get one or the other in 2-3 years, maybe both in 5 (given I stay at the job I just got). After the discussion we had a few weeks ago on here about houses and all, it seems like buying a house sooner would be better since it would hopefully/probably appreciate in value. I guess at that point it would be figuring out which would be larger, the appreciation on the house or the interest rate on the loan. But who really knows at what rate the house will appreciate? Half of my student loan is at fixed 6.5% and the other half is variable, I think at around 7.5% right now. I figure the house would be better than that, but I just hate having debt. One big loan wouldn't scare me as much as the 4 smaller ones I'm about to have. I guess I'm weird like that.

Welcome to the IHoP
Apparently I pissed a guy off this morning because I didn't push a yellow light. we were in the left turn lane and the light had already been yellow for 3-4 cars so I decided to stop. I guess he wanted me to go because he slammed his brakes right behind me then revved his engine (one of those new Hemi Jeeps). So I figured he'd hot dog it around me once the light turned green. And sure enough he did. Kinda almost hoped he'd get loose and fishtail into the curb or something. There was some traffic merging onto the right lane of the 4 lane road we just turned left onto and he almost hit them, then quickly swerved back into my lane in front of me and slammed on his brakes because there was a car about 30 feet in front of me going slower than the 60 he was doing (speed limit 40). Cool, you really showed me. I bet you're an awesome person. I was so happy when that car he got behind kept going 40 mph and there was a semi in the right lane trapping him in. Just relax, dude.

lost power....
I don't like running amps below rated impedence at all. Box rise doesn't make me feel safe so I don't count on it.

Welcome to the IHoP
jizmj. So.....I got a new job. start in 2 weeks. It's with the Kansas Dept. of Health & Environment over in Topeka. But I'll still live in Lawrence and just commute the 30 minutes because Topeka sucks. I'm pretty happy. I'll make 50% more than I'm making now (I guess that's what happens when you get a real job), good state benefits, and pretty strict on no overtime. Which is good for a guy like me, who defines his life by who he is, not his job, and while liking your job is important, it's more or less just to pay for you to live.

lost power....
as I was reading through this I kept thinking it was an amp problem. Then at the end I see you found it. I know the newish Orion amps don't like being fed under 12 volts or so. I've heard a number of people either having the problem or warning about it.

loud subs?
Get a few FI BTL's, Incriminator Death Penalties, or Mach 5 SPLs, etc, and a few Sundown 3000d's, IA 40.1s, etc. Then get a larger alternator or two and maybe a couple batteries. Then get about 400 sq. feet of sound deadening products and put about 5 layers throughout your entire vehicle. that should cost you about 5 grand.

Welcome to the IHoP
This last weekend my family was staying in a hotel by the Kansas City speedway and there were cars running around it all the time. My stepdad and I wanted to go out there and race our vehicles, my Explorer vs. his Durango.

Fi Q 12" making a strange vibrating sound...
That's what I was going to say. If it doesn't make the noise outside the box, it's an airleak. If carpeting goes underneath the sub when mounted there is often not an airtight seal there. Plus I doubt those people used sealant on the inside edges of the box. Also check the wire terminals on the box. If it does, something is probably wrong with the sub. The voice coil may be a little out of alignment or a little mangled in some way to make it hit the motor.

Speaker suggestions
Try some Image Dynamics Chameleons.

RCA cables for amps
I agree. All of my cables have been 17 dollar Lightning Audio or Schoches. In my home theater I'm even still using some old radio shack, probably 4 dollar RCAs. Kinda want to change those out soon though, haha.

maybe try and find an older SI BM. Or maybe an Image Dynamics.

what would it compare to
I don't think the L5 would compare to any Fi sub because it sounds like poo. Unless they changed them a lot from the L5's and L7's I heard a couple years ago.

Damping Factor/Slew Rate/Muddy Sound Question
I always get so confused when the Rockford 360.2 gets mentioned because I think of it as an amp, not a processor. Didn't they make an amp with that exact number? I know they made a 360a2, not sure if that particular amp made it into when they started using . instead of a.

kicker cvx's
I thought you didn't like your CVX's and were looking to replace them? Regardless, you don't need to put them in separate chambers. Put them all in one with one port. Easy and done. Just make sure to brace it.
