Adding a subwoofer to the 5.1
I have had that Dayton for about 4 years and have never had any problems, so I'd recommend it. I don't have any experience with the Bash though.

Hey Sean. You use some nice equipment. Does your home theater get the same treatment?

Easy sub\box question for those far experienced
also, "gain is turned way down" doesn't mean anything. The gain isn't a volume knob. You could be delivering full power with the gain all the way down if your input voltage is high enough. shoot, it's possible that you could even be overdriving the amp and clip it. so just be careful when you hear that and don't use it to relate to the actual power being applied.

SSF filter
I'd set it lower. In fact, I have mine off on my box tuned to 30 hz and never had a problem. The thing to remember is that the frequency you set it at isn't where the slope begins to roll off, that's the -3db point. so if you set it at, say, 35 hz, it will begin to roll off higher than your tuning frequency, which I doubt you'd want. I'm just saying if it were me I'd probably set it at less than or equal to 25.

doh. My favorites were the early 2000's Diablos, the last couple years for them. The Murcielagos and Gallardos are ok. But if I would get a new one it would have to be the Reventon because one of my other fascinations are fighter jets.

it also depends on the tuning frequency. If you tune the 12's lower than the 10's, the lower port will help the lows a little (but a lower tune will require a longer port for the same port area, so there goes a little more internal box volume). Plus you could add polyfill to the 12's box too. And even though you say you can have double the RMS of the 12's, that doesn't mean the subs can actually handle it in order to use it. If you smoke the subs after two weeks then you'll probably wish you had gone with the 10's. So kind of a back and forth deal. I'd just go 10's and be done. Edit since I just read your second post after I posted this: 40 hz? really? If you want to hit the lows, go 30. I don't like porting above 35 because it just gets too peaky and one note-ish.

I like the Lambo doors. In fact I love Lamborghinis in all their greatness. I just don't think they should be on a 10,000 dollar car. Or, really, anything other than a Lamborghini. Now if only I can scrape together the 250 g's to buy one.

so this is kinda way back to the beginning, but.......why did somebody put lamborghini doors on a Ford Contour? even if it is an SVT

Your db Numbers
car: 1991 Olds Cutlass Supreme Electrical: stock but with Orbital red top battery Amps: Crossfire BMF 1000D Subs: 4 ED12K (flatcone) Box: 4 cube sealed Mic: Tone: 48 hz or so Score: 152 outlaw on Audiocontrol in the kick, 142 legal on the windshield with termlab sensor (big drop, ouch!) That was like 4 years ago. Haven't gotten the Mag metered in my Explorer yet. It's probably a little less loud overall but much better low lows.

Welcome to the IHoP
I was surprised he ran a plus 4.5 40 yard dash. I always thought he was faster, especially with how he pulled away from KU's Aqib Talib this year (who ran a 4.4). Aqib isn't going to be any better than possibly a nickel corner in the NFL. I think he's overrated. It's kind of interesting what a couple of years can do for a player at the college level. You may know Marcus Watts, who started at safety for KSU a bit. He was in my grade and we went to high school together, were on the basketball team together, etc. I think two years ago there were rumblings that he may go in the 2nd to 3rd round. and now, undrafted and doesn't seem to have any buzz to even get a tryout.

Mag vs Flatline (Arc Audio)
Yeah indeed. Maybe try porting the Mag if you have the room.

New System.
I'd say to see the biggest difference do the wheel wells and firewall to feet areas. Just a suggestion if you're on somewhat of a tight budget and don't think you can do the whole car. Since, obviously, road noise comes from the tires rolling along the pavement and the engine can make a lot of noise as well. If your engine is really noisy you can get a pad to put on the underside of your hood. A guy I used to work with did that on his Bronco and said it helped a ton. You'd also be surprised to find out how much different tires can make a difference in road noise. and there are of course air leaks around doors, windows, etc, where seals may need to be replaced. Being that's a 14 year old car I wouldn't doubt it has leaks like that. But those are kinda off-boundary suggestions. You just might want to pinpoint exactly what noises you are hearing so that you can make the most of your deadening power.

wiring front stage
I put my crossovers under my front seats. Saves on wires but still hidden away.

I sure miss that pitching lineup too. At least they still have smoltz now and he's still as good as ever. And Hudson is a very quality #2. I just wish Hampton would get over his injuries. I thought he was really good and thought it was a great pickup by the Braves, but two years later and still nothing. I still have hope though. and they have a host of young talent for starting pitching. Now if only they could get a bullpen. I've forgotten the details of the Turner/Braves/TBS deal, but I know they were on it last year because I remember thinking I needed to enjoy every game that was on because it would be the last year for it. and I sure have missed it. although I have less patience to watch a whole game now than I used to so maybe it's not as big of a loss as I thought.

Most impressed you've ever been with a stereo?
my friend's two JL 12W.....5's? like 9-10 years ago. It was the first system I had ever heard and it floored me. It was what got me interested in car audio. Yeah, I guess I'm pretty basic. I've never heard 235,000 dollar amps or hard core SQ competitors' cars.

I'm watching the Suns/Spurs game and it's almost unwatchable because of the same hack-a-shaq "strategy" used by Popovich as last game. Yes, I agree with the announcers when they say that the rules shouldn't be changed just because one guy doesn't have the skill set for free throws. However, it is obviously an intentional foul! I don't know how you can't call it as such? That should be a free throw plus the ball every time. It's so aggrevating. If you want to foul him when he gets the ball every time, fine. But not away from the ball. Guys like Bill Simmons (aka the sports guy for those who read espn.com) says he can't believe when people say that college ball is better than NBA ball because the NBA has such greater talent. Sure, it does. But in college they don't play this crap. In college, teams win because they are a TEAM and play with good fundamentals. College is much better.

Got's an opinion question
I'd go the cheaper route. Save your money for other stuff. I don't know how you wouldn't be satisfied with "only" 2k watts if it's just a for fun car/project and not real serious (like competing). There may be a time in a month or a year when you're glad you have that 1300 bucks.

heck yeah he is. I played with/against him at the rec center a couple times. real down to earth and a little playful/goofy. I've been following him all year with the Hornets and am glad they're doing well in the playoffs so hopefully I can watch him/them since networks show more playoff than regular season action.

Yeah it was really funny, the other day I was reading an article on espn.com from a former lakers player, Paul Shirley, who was only in their camp for like 10 days once in 2001 or something like that, about his Lakers experience. Anyways, he said "My hotel room is awesome. The Lakers' charter jet is awesome. Shaquille O'Neal is awesome. Kobe Bryant's personality is not awesome." haha.

ugh, I hate the spurs. probably from the shaq in LA days. and I don't know why, but I hate Tim Duncan. I say I don't know why because I watched a special on him that showed his life growing up and all, and he seems like a cool guy and down to earth. and he is respectful on the court and doesn't talk trash like 98% of the people, which is something I really like in a basketball player. But for some reason I just have this deep seeded hatred for him. ha. and I like Arod, though I haven't really followed him for the past few years. I just liked him back in the day when he was in the same lineup as Ken Griffey JR, who is one of my faves of all time.
