That statement is so horribly inaccurate it's painful. It will completely depend upon the specific speakers being installed. Especially in car audio where the vast majority of drivers are designed to work optimally IB. Most companies want the consumer using their product to obtain the best performance possible from their products. Most car audio companies understand the vast majority of consumers are just going to toss speakers in their door, and as a result design their products to perform best in such an environment. Are there some car audio speakers that may perform better in an enclosure? Yes, it's possible. But to make the statement that an enclosure will "yield the tightest bass with most components and cleanest SQ" and state it as a fact as opposed to opinion (which is evident from the first part of your statement, "regardless on opinions") is simply a display of immense ignorance. It is far more likely that they were designed to perform optimally IB than in an enclosure. I also think that a tweeter should be mounted backwards...max reflectivness for the square wave X- E=MC3 crist dude...if someone states "regardless of opinion" on the internet you Don't take it seriously .....LOL it definately gave this thread a kick start though.... seriously though...some of the best sounding mids I ahve heard were in tuned ported applications (car and home) IB can sound really good if one spends the time to deaden and stiffen the door BTW.... if you drive a Chevy a IB set up will not work because the steel GMC uses creates to may - IONS and it effects the angle of the flange Merry Christmas Everyone...

some manufacturers recommend IB applications to make installation easy... regardless on opinions a sealed fiberglass enclosure would yeild the tightest bass with most components and cleanest SQ.... "only if the fiberglass is thick enough to prevent vibarating or flexing" one side effect of a pod built to small is excessive mid bass ringing so make them a little on the large side...you can always stuff them with pollyfill to eat up inner volume if mounting in the stock location I would deaden the doors and stiffen them up as well as take any restrictive material away from the speakers path

looks nice....... a bunch of the origional PG guys started EXILE amps to.......the Xi series amps are really nice

I'm in the process of packing up and moving back to Kelowna right now....... if this enclosure is being used it will turn up eventually BTW.....I'll still be available for SSA products during the move over the holidays but the enclosure builds will be on hold untill after new years....... (BIGGER SHOP) and 20 x the population to work with

a sad update.... this car has been stollen and the install has been stripped out probably in the Kelowna area...if anyone comes across it please contact me asap

got the LED's fixed......

the LED's fade from blue to red......I broke the leads off of a red one so I have to repalce it tomorrow then I can take a pic of it lit up in the dark

the heavy pearl combined with the florecent lights makes the paint look orange....but it's really an intense red...weird.... LOL

in a situation like yours I would go with a pair of 10" woofers ported...... you could base the cavity on the passenger side (saving leg room for the big guy who drives) and shoot an external port behind the drivers seat unfortunately I do not sell designs though.........

In did an oil change on the engine..it's the 3.8 litre doesn't really matter on the motor...it runs good..not bad on fuel and it has balls when I floor it...LOL the Exile Xi 800.4 amp has done well and I like it and decided to switch the top end amps so they are sending me another Xi 800.4 .... at 400w rms per channel there will be 1600w rms on the mids and tweets.................

as the title states..regular slot port for a pair of Kicker CVX 12" 4.0cf3 tuned at 35hz............

well I got the Xi 800.4 in two channel bridged mode on my componets ...8ohm per channel the amp has a bit more output than the JBL 75.4ll and it sounds ALOT better with a flat eq setting over the JBL amp..but it is class D compared to class A/B..it is brighter sounding than the JBL the Xi 2500 isn't a bad amp either....that Lexus SC 400 install I am working on sounds amazing so the amps are starting to prove themselves

finally got the system planned out Exile sent me a Xi 800.4 amp for my components (class A/B Tripple Darlington design)........I am ditching the JBL GTO amps on the top end and switching to Exile.....way better customer service and better power going to the mids and tweets I want to stay below the window line and have as much low end extension as possible with max SQ so I'm going to go with either four or six Icon 10"...depending on what design I come up with... I got a buddy who is going with two of my Xcon 15" in a Dodge Dakota powered by a Soundstream XXX 6500 so there will be an added bonus build log coming

that enclosure would have costed about a grand to ship to the US..........

a little test fit and a little test listen..................... the amp racks and rear trim peice as well as the air scoop and rear wall still have to be made but the design sounds awsome

I'm looking forward to trying this out.......... the Lexus is making a 150 mile trip for a test fit at the moment....should have pics in car soon

welll got the enclosures and the center peice done..... this will be in a trunk so it will be looked down upon...LOL there is still a couple of trim peices and amp plates to go...........

143.6db @ 10hz will move anyone...LOL I like the sound of them..they are easy to rebuild and I like dealing with Aaron and Mark best part is I'm supporting a small buisiness and I got something no one else around here does
