  1. Hmmmm, ok. Say both drivers are setup in their optimum recommended enclosures tuned for LSQ. Both subs have around the same amount of Xmax, except the 2 10s together have 20 inches of surface area vs 15 inches. However I'm sure the 15 would have the capability of dropping lower.
  2. Just out of curiousity, which would have more output with 1000 watts? I know both have great SQ. 1 Icon 15 ported or 2 RL-i 10s ported? Each setup for a LSQ setup, not a SPL or SQ setup.
  3. I don't want 2 amps. I just want to use 1 1000 watt amp. I'm not looking to spend excess money on electrical upgrades.
  4. I want a pair of 12s that will give me a good amount of output and sound good doing it SEALED. That is my goal.
  5. I'm trying to decide between a pair of 12s for sealed operation. As most of you know I had an Icon 15. My girlfriend just got a new Nissan Murano and I gave it to her to start her system with. The 15 was just taking up too much space in my trunk not to mention I've been missing having a sealed setup. I have always favored sealed setups with a pair of 12s and need help deciding between these pairs. BTW, I may also hook her up with my amp in favor of picking up a new SAE-1000D. 2 Audiopulse Epic 12s 2 Mach5Audio IXL-12s 2 JL Audio W6v2 12s
  6. Yeah, they sounded awesome. Unlike alot of people on forums, hype doesn't get me to buy subs. Alot of people hate on the W7s just because they simply can't afford them. So they start saying that their cheaper subs sound better. If I bought subs due to hype I would have owned RE Audio, Treo, ED Audio ect. The W7 setup I heard was a pair of 10 inch W7s sealed powered off the 1000 watt JL amp in the back of an Acura Integra. I would have swarn they were a pair of 12s until he showed me.
  7. As I said, in order for a ported box to sound almost as good as a sealed box it has to be over sized and tuned low. When hasn't that been the case with ported applications? In order to go ported and sound right you have to sacrifice alot of space.
  8. IMO sealed boxes do get decently loud and sound better than ported. I feel that alot of detail is lost going ported unless your box is HUGE and tuned low. To me I'de rather get a smaller sealed box than a huge ported box to get the same detail. Plus, wouldn't 700 watts be underpowering the Icon or Fi Q?
  9. And why is that? Both are quality drivers.
  10. I'm aware of that. The reason I ask about which would get louder is I already know either would sound good sealed.
  11. A friend of mine is trying to decide between a pair of Treo TSX 12s sealed or 2 JL Audio W3v3 13.5s sealed. He can get JL and Treo subs are very good prices. Either set will be powered off 700 watts. Which would get louder with that power sealed?
  12. I had my box built to the specs Johncon gave me. 3.5 cubes tuned to 34hz. To me, in order for a ported box to sound almost as good as sealed it has to be HUGE and tuned low. I'de rather have a smaller sealed box that sounds better. I don't think it would get louder than a pair of W6v2 12s let along the 13.5s. The W6v2 13.5 has 21.6 mm of Xmax and the Icon 15 gas 20.5mm of Xmax. I'm not knocking the Icon in any way, they are kick ass subs, so please don't take it that way. I just want something different and want to switch up. I am also interested in the Xcon's when the come out for a different vehicle. Those look insane!
  13. I regret going ported. I just like the sound of the flatter frequency response of a sealed enclosure. To me I'de rather do a multi sub sealed setup than a single sealed or ported setup. IMO I feel sealed setups can get loud but sound better. I have yet to hear a ported setup have the response of a sealed setup. I just feel that I miss ALOT of the detail with a ported setup.
  14. Maybe I will just try sealing the Icon. It's just that when it comes to sealed setups I'm used to a pair of 12s that offer more surface area than a single 15. Wouldn't a pair of sealed 12s get louder than 1 sealed 15? Especially a pair of sealed 13.5s?
  15. I want more output than a single sealed 15 though. So a good componant set in the front doors would be a good enough front stage without deck speakers huh? A friend of mine from the forum has a good component set in his doors and no deck speakers and it sounds good to me. Would the sub bass sound much better and louder without the deck speakers being there'll be 2 6x9 holes going into the trunk?
  16. I'm thinking of a pair of W6v2 13.5's sealed. Would a Sundown SAE-1000D be proper to power a pair of those? It's going in a 2006 Corolla Type S. Right now I have a ported Icon 15 powered by a JBL GTO 1201.1 II amp that puts out 1100 watts at 2 ohms and a Batcap 800. I want to switch my system up to a sealed setup and think the W6v2s sound awesome. So I'm going sell my amp in favor of the SAE-1000D and do the big 3 and replace the Batcap 800 with the one of the bigger Odyssey drycell batteries and a solenoid. However, I'm contemplating on what to do for my front stage. Which would be better out of these 3 choices. Choice 1: A good componant system in the front doors powered by a Sundown SAX-100.2 and take the 6x9s out of the rear deck and have the 2 6x9 cutouts in the rear deck kinda like 2 6x9 ports to the trunk. Choice 2: Get some good coaxles that can take some abuse and power them off my deck. Choice 3: A good componant system in the front doors powered by a Sundown SAX-100.2 and get a good pair of 6x9s for the rear deck that can take some abuse. BTW, what coaxles can take a good amount of abuse?
  17. The MT line of subs
  18. Well I know that RE subs are sapposed to sound good except for their SPL sub line. Did it get louder than the JLs and CVRs and did it have good SQ?
  19. Would you say it was louder and better than CompVR or W3v3? I'm kinda iffy on the BMs. The box requirments sound funny to me. I've personally been iffy about slim subs since they came out.
  20. How did they sound? A friend of mine has a 600 watt amp and is looking for a good pair of 12s and is strongly considering them.
  21. Did their products go down in quality?
  22. RE subs have had a really good reputation for sounding great and having a strong threshold for abuse, however there's no talk of them anymore. Did their quality go downhill or is it the raise in price that is causing them to not be as popular as they used to be?
  23. I hope this isn't a stupid question. A friend of mine has the SAE-1000D and wants to run it at 2 ohms to power his pair of JL Audio W3v3 13.5s with 600 watts until he has the money to get the electrical upgrades he needs for his car. He bought the amp so he could expand his system when ready. Right now he has a Batcap 800. He eventually wants to get a bigger alternator and 2 good drycell batteries in place of the Batcap and a 2nd SAE-1000D and 2 Icon 15s, but for the time being just wants to use his JLs. How should he treat his gain for the JLs being the amp is going to be ran at 2ohms rather than the amps max at 1ohms?
  24. Looks real nice. I have an Icon 15 ported and it sounds great and all, however I miss having a sealed setup and was thinking of selling my Icon 15 and enclosure in favor of a pair of 12s sealed. I may be strongly considering a pair of these when they come out.
