  1. Learn something new every day
  2. The sub is already assembled, i'm not sure how you'd go about that
  3. so if the smd dd1 is used properly by the user manual it won't hurt a sundown amp correct? It's clever advertising on a useless product. Get your money back, and set it by ear, or call someone who knows how. DD-1 is not helpful to you.
  4. It's not just Sundown amps, it'll horsefuck anything you attach it to.
  5. I get earfuls of shit for talking about wanting to tune low. But I love me some lows, I'm excited to hear how it turns out! Tuning low for the hell of it vs getting a flat response are two different things. For the hell of it? That's an ignorant assumption No reason to aim for a goal, if there is no goal to begin with... That's completely stupid.
  6. Look man, some people drunk dial, but the last time I got blackout drunk, an amp and a wire kit showed up at my house two days later; not even the first time this has happened The love of the hobby is there, trust me.
  7. well I already have 8 gauge wire in the box from when I had 8 gauge direct connects on my other sub that I sold. So just wanted to reuse that wire instead of having to buy some 12 gauge wire when I could use that money on some food lmao yeah. I know there's no gains but read ^^^^ But read, I managed to fit 8ga in mine; Worst case, trim it.
  8. Two way passives? Was thinking about building bookshelf speakers for some locals to make some money on the side. I want to try a three way active one day as it seems like a proper challenge, however, what is gained with three speakers over two, provided the two way is already setup correctly? Ease of reproduction? I was always told to keep it simple. But other than that, I am game for trial and error, and some foolin' around with different sets. That has to be my favorite way to learn by far; not to mention, learning by experience tends to be more rewarding
  9. If they are the same as the BTL(I don't own a Q, but I do own a BTL), you can do it. You don't need that though. NO gains from such large wire with that kind of power, not to mention how short the amp to sub wires generally are, provided you have them both in the trunk. Cosmetics only.
  10. I'm just looking for some pointers on where I could look for reputable information on designing 2 way passive, 2 way active and (after some practice) eventually 3 way active front stages. Just stuff like, what to keep in mind as far as driver selection, particular features to look for when choosing a certain driver, and how to design passive crossovers. I was daydreaming and hit a roadblock when I realized, what the hell do I even know about a quality front stage? I can't say much at all, other than, deaden, and airseal the speakers. So I feel like it's time to start learning, might even have some applicable tips on hand for when the new truck is ready I'm planning on the Loudspeaker cookbook, but what are some online resources (other than the forum of course lol) that you'd recommend? Thanks!
  11. Shit dude. It'll come together, worry about that arm first. GL on recovery!

  14. I literally haven't heard anything positive about it.... Every time it's mentioned, it's being targeted as the culprit of system failure. Should tell you all you need to know. It's garbage.
  15. I wouldn't even feel good using 1/8" anything in a tight spot let alone as common practice. My woofer snaps screwheads off in 3/4" wood, and it's only on double that power.
  16. Mom's Dell needs a fresh install every four to six months. I don't understand how typing papers and answering work based email can do things to this computer I never managed to do as a teen, with porn, torrented music and movies, gaming, I don't get it at all.
  17. I get earfuls of shit for talking about wanting to tune low. But I love me some lows, I'm excited to hear how it turns out!
  18. Clipped to death perhaps, heated the shit out of the coils and burned off the glue. Efficiency is your friend, you don't need a ton of power to achieve what you're after. I mean overall efficiency by the way, the whole front stage, not driver parameters.
  19. I know the guy who does boxes for D&B in Ft. Wayne, I used to spend my afternoons there after work. He actually tried to talk me out of buying my BTL, offered a DC level 6 with a comp box for 600. I was planning on a visit there for a box once i'm back in town, but not for something like that... It doesn't look like his cuts though. Dig a little deeper? But don't get me wrong, they have a shop mentality. Nothing special there.
  20. *drools profusely* Bump indeed!
  21. I didn't say way off, as my quote will corroborate. However I'm a happy Fi owner and am not so easily sold on the idea that bad sound is automatically the woofer's fault. They are dumb, they do what we tell them to. I've seen it happen, however not with 95% of what I've dealt with, car audio wise.
  22. If two people tell you the same story at the same time how will the words sound? Clearer or mismatched and muddy? Ditch the rears.
