  1. I'd use the FI. someone who was running the SS XXX's said in a post on one of the forums, the XXX SLAMS and is REAL efficient, and all at a sacrifice is what you'll always have. this sub according to the gentlemans post, said it trades low low bass for this efficiency at higher notes, it still drops lows, but not as hard as a BTL and that would make ALOT of difference on music imo. I want someone to do me the favor, of running a 10-100hz sweep with different subs on an rta. small subs that meter loud and large subs that meter the same, as well as some subs that people commonly compare. I'm betting the reason large subs hitting 145, usually sound alot louder than smaller subs hitting 145 both at say 40hz the larger sub will "sound" alot louder on music because it'll play significantly louder under tuning than the small sub. example, I was doing a 145@37hz with my MT 18", I was also doing 145@37hz with my soloX 10", the soloX got plenty loud on music, but nothing like the MT. my explanation is the MT could whoop down to 20hz @ say 130dB while the 10" would do 125 or less at 20hz.. so that extra 5dB at 20hz would really give the fundamental feeling that the 18" was much louder than the 10" even though the meter said they were the same. in the larger box the 18" was in, I'm also pretty sure it would resonant lower (box FS, for lack of better term) even though they were both tuned the same, if that makes any sense.. it makes perfect sense to me, and one day I'll possibly try it on my TL as my low extension frequency theory experiment or left-E
  2. nice is that on the FI site? this should be, stickied on here too, results at shows using FI subs just like you posted above I or you can delete my and other useless posts, I just thought I'd add that. or make a stickie and lock it, and update it with the updated date in the title good idea maybe?
  3. who here compete's with FI subs? doesn't HAVE to be sanctioned, but if you do local stuff post your numbers and on what mic they were scored. and does anyone who runs FI do bassrace or street beat? I know meade does, but I mean anyone on this forum. looking to add some numbers to the FI count so noobs can see what the subs are capable of... and 3 year noobs don't count foo's! Tom
  4. Impact Auto Styling is a good shop imo, I've never been there, but I know one of the guys and all the installs he does are SICK and all the brands they carry are damm good imo. stoked to see someone repping SI here locally
  5. I'm curious to see what kind of power these guys put out. I know they're hella underrated so I'm curious what kind of power they ACTUALLY do? 200rms per channel? or closer to 150? I'd love to have 150-200 a side running some DD 6.5" LTs would get retarded loud imo, thanks, Tom
  6. that is one hell uva burnt coil...
  7. Also what do you use to cut your boxes? I use home depot to cut my wood Jig Saw, Table Saw, Circular Saw? What do you use to cut the sub circle? I use either my router with a circle cutting jig or a sawzall depending on baffle thickness Jig Saw? What type of screws do you use. drywall screws, coarse I suppose, whatever the drywallers have at work... Coarse Dry-wall screws?
  8. is this just anyone on the forum can buy stickers and be on the team? it's just a forum club or something? sorry if I missed the memo just never really was shure and figured it was a club for this forum open to anyone here... Tom
  9. Exactly my thoughts... Otherwise I'd consider an X2400.1 I want to try them as well, I LOVE my PG xenon amp, it's small but pounds for what it is imo. I'm hoping to score a couple x2400.1s for a decent price, I've been watching some sell under $400 and just don't have the cash when they go
  10. I've had my KD-ADV6160 for about 2 years now, and havn't had any problems with it, it's a dvd player and in my last truck I did heavy offroading and could hardly skip it, and I mean getting all 4 tires 2 feet in the air and not having it skip when I landed... my buddy and I swear by these decks and I recommend them to anyone wanting a GOOD decent priced dvd player. their cd/mp3 players are equally good imo, my buddy had one in his F150 that he totaled for about a year, and never had a problem with it. when he ran over a ford focus with his truck, it skipped a little but went right back on and both cars were totaled, he went up over it lol. these are a good lasting deck imo, and about the cheapest dvd player out there, my buddy got an RF one, then a jensen, and now he's saying he's gonna get a JVC finally after both didn't last a year combined lol. hope I persuaded someone to get one over a jensen as it's no contest imo... Tom
  11. wow, I can't believe, I actually used a bunch of these subs lol I liked the avalons, I'd have ID keep the IDSPLs around, as well as the PG TI elite and HX2 power... as well as the TRF since I'm an spl kinda guy... and have MTX make the musical recone for the RFL which they never came out with like they originally said they would... some guys did decent with them for music after cutting a couple spiders out lol
  12. did you try asking in the zed section? steve would definetly be able to answer that, or possibly someone on termpro if you're in a hurry to find out
  13. this amp does over 800rms from 4-1ohm making it VERY versatile. it's small and can fit all over, it has SICK on board xovers/subsonic, 24dB per octave I believe, built in cooling fan. just over built in general and a sick amp. I always see people going with other amps because they just don't know what they're missing... see the vid in my sig of one x600.1 pushing a single DD 9510F and tell me another budget 600watt amp that'll do that.. I'll propmtly reply with a good smiley from another forum
  14. When i looked at the standings for just USA in Street B for DB Drag, you gotta be over 150 to be in the top 30, and that is just in the USA. Street A is easier(well duhh) and so is Street C for some reason. Single 15" or Dual 12" i would say are one of the most common setups right now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> street A has had some serious numbers put up in the past year, I would not want to go up against those guys sending gobs of power to a pair of crazy 10s in some horn box actually terry brocks runs a bandpass... a pair of DD 10"s he had soloX 10"s but the DD's are a hair louder in his install, last time I talked to him at least.. and alot of guys do good with standard ported boxes, in fact, I have yet to see anyone do a serious number with a horn or TL type box... they're overrated imo. TB was the WR holder for a while street A and is always putting up qualifiying numbers for the top 3 I believe in the world. Dave louisiana crx holds the title for usaci street beat 1 with a pair of DD 10"s 3510's as a matter of fact, and he does over 150 rolling average on music for 30 seconds and doesn't use a horn or transmission line box... a custom ported box would probably be his answer if you asked him lol.
  15. I did a recent install in the wifes jetta an alpine oversized face deck 7998 or something I think I'd have to look.. a PG Xenon x600.1 amp, pushing a single DD 9510F in a 3 cube box 45in^3 port 34hz tune. not too musical imo, but bangs hard on the low bass stuff. I think if I had more power it may help, and a higher tune also would more than likely help, as it's tuned lower than the drivers FS... anyway, in my sig is a link to the vid, and here are a couple pix does a 141.9@34hz car closed on the dash new TL, and a 141.4@32hz. 140s on music peak hold on dash, and I did a rolling average with some chopped and screwed and watched it do 139-140 for a little over 30 seconds. car is completely stock to the 04 jetta stock battery, and no big three or deadener of any kind. I'll throw in one of my kinetik monsters and do the big 3 when I upgrade my electricals. plus I need the terminals for the monsters, if anyone has any they'd be willing to sell pm me please. I have the bolts on the top of my batts atm, and they're in my truck under the back seat lol... I made the box for the 12" 4hp in my sig, and wanted to try the DD out since I bought it, and decided to just make an adaptor plate and these are the results. when I get a little more motivated I'll do a new box and am hoping for 143+ on the same little amp and will post a new topic about it when I do. for anyone who didn't get that far, the vid is in my sig on this and all the forums I frequent
  16. I just saw an esx 75.2 on ebay earlier today, but I think you missed it elite has more zed stuff than any forum I've ever stumbled across maybe post a wtb thread there? sounddomain and icix I seen a few esx amps also
  17. does this mean the amp is on? I suppose I could thump on the rca in's to see if it makes noise through the speakers. I used my DMM and checked for voltage on the remote in, and it doesn't show voltage as do power and ground... any clues? love the amp it's under my dash it's so small thanks in advance for any input Tom
  18. I own a TL, but unfortunately I'm on the Big I.. as for the vids of the 2 15"s doing 143... I was doing a 145.2 new TL car closed leagal with my single soloX 10" @ 37hz... I'm doing a 141.9@34hz out of a jetta trunk with the single 9510F I have in the wifes car now.. it's an 04 jetta with a stock batt... no big 3, no dynamatt and basically an amp sub and deck all drop in installed in her car lol on a pg xenon x600.1 amp lol... good score though for MA, I never cared much for them... they're decent imo, I have a buddy who runs MA, he has the 4000xd or whatever it's called and a kore 15" that he blew, I metered his atomic 15" and he did like a 141.6 after his kore blew. anything over a 140 is decent imo. I've meter'd guys with 2+ 12"s doing 130s LOW 130s... I've done that with a single 8" in a .57ft^3 box in my titan crew cab from under the seat LOL... not to diss to hard, but those guys have ugly spl type installs is what makes it the sorryest... my installs are all ugly too, but at least they're reasonably loud at least to me... the DD 10" also does 141.4@32hz in my wifes car lol see sig uh, don't know if it's even showing... so uh, scott, did you happen to get the sub I sent in yet? just wondering as I could use some cash so I can't wait to get some recones and sell them babies hm... can you put an FI stickER on the cones and write reconed BY before it? if I'm not asking too much allready asking you to recone subs that aren't even yours lol
  19. I own a TL, but unfortunately I'm on the Big I.. as for the vids of the 2 15"s doing 143... I was doing a 145.2 new TL car closed leagal with my single soloX 10" @ 37hz... 20. power lol, alot more than anyone in my area... um probably a pair of AT5000.1 or 7kws if I hear they're stable when people start running them... MAYbe the AB 500.1s if they're stable and as strong as Bob's been claiming at 12v... IF I don't have to use that kind of power I won't, but I've been wanting to try them for a larger setup so I'll probably have them on hand by the time I have the drivers so maybe one of them would run all the subs I get for the truck... so probably around 3-4kwrms after voltage drop and imp rise... thus the Q's originally brought up I guess since I'm going 10" I should stay well away from drivers with that much xmag especially given the power I'm aiming for lol... but too much is never enough, that's why I usually don't have a back seat lmao. but I catch alot of sh!t from the wife about how selfish I am that only I can ride in my truck and blah blah blah... so I take everything out once in a while and do a small install.. so if I can get a small LOUD install going I may leave it alone for a while.. til I decide to make a large ported box to do comps with or something, then it ends up staying in for extended listening like always so as much power as I can get, more than likely too much.. the smallest amp I'd even consider would be an exile 2400.1 or a pair even... like I said, I want over 140 new TL down low under 30hz and peaky up higher say above 145 it may not be possible but I'm doing a 141.3 @ 32hz with a single 9510 on a pg xenon x600.1 from my wifes jetta trunk now, so I can do some justice in the truck I'm sure . did some box mods too, so I'm gonna throw it back in tonight and meter it to see if/what I gained
  21. um, I used to like my MT 18" daily if you remember lol... so I don't care about sq much... I dunno I just thought I'd do something that would be easy to put in lazy skinney bastard = me
  22. I have a crew cab titan, and with using glass/wood I can get around 2.5ft^3 or two 1.24ft^3 boxes... sealed would be easiest... but the subs would cost more... and I love the sound of ported boxes ... but it would likely go lower and higher and have just generally better sq... 2 BL 10"s ported... would be nice but I don't know exactly how much space I'd have after sub/port displacment and if the internal shape of the box would affect the performance alot to where it's as bad as a sealed box... I'm on the wall here and can't figure which way to go.. I suppose I could do the BL's 1st since it would be cheaper lol... and if I wasn't happy do the Qs later.. but if I weren't happy that time I'd have to kill myself lol... just looking for peoples opinions I'm not a fan of sealed but I suppose if done well it'd work out?
  23. hey can you get me a shipped price on a mono amp and the two ss amps to 96740 usps priority mail if possible. thanks, email me too I don't come here often [email protected] thanks, T
  24. ... I liked how the 15" sounded, but I was pleasantly suprised on how my 4 6.5" eu-700's sounded today... I'll post up vids maybe later, as well as putting it on my Termlab hope to run the 4 8"s ported or 2 8"s ported if not... I'm sure they'd get louder and boom nicely
