Big Boy/Monster/Nightmare sub updates?
Oh I understand. He is very busy! Business for him seems to be going great. I was just wondering what is up. There hasn't been any news on it in a while. Late this year is cool. I'm in no rush at all.

Big Boy/Monster/Nightmare sub updates?
Just wondering... Has anything more happened w/ this sub? Testing, specs, I'm not even gonna say that three letter acronym Jacob hates so much! I will be upgrading my system in about 1.5 years, and I am trying to get a head start on researching subs! Do you think you will offer the copper coil on these beasts to lower the Fs to under 30? Thanks man!

My System
Lol. Fisher could make you a box out of water man! (Just playing) He can do anything you want. He got some mad skills. What state are you in man outta curiosity? As far as ported vs sealed, what kinda rap are we talking about? I would personally suggest ported unless you listen to some faster rock/electro/ hip hop. Or sealed if you really don't care as much about loudness. Just don't forget ported takes up more room. What kind of vehicle? What size is your alternator? As far as position.... I'd say sealed facing ported ONLY if you will have the seats up. If you will have them folded down, face it backwards. If you go ported.... sub up and port to the side FTW. I'd experimented w/ port and sub back(towards trunk), port and sub forward, and sub up port to the side, and the sub up w/ port facing to the side wins by far. You can fit a much larger box as well.

Yeah that song is badass. I got a real slowed version of it if y'all want it. Just PM me... Peaks are at 5, 13, and 24 htz on this version... The regular (not slowed) is 7, 17, and 32 htz

Oh you and your wanting business and keeping secrets. Pshhh what a joke I guess that's why not everyone runs around doing what you do! Lol.

Four 10" Icon enclosure (termlab Video...143.6 @ 10hz)
Trevor, what are the specs of that box? Like what is the cu. ft. per driver and the tuning freq? What makes your setup be able to do 140+ at 10 hz. I mean that is insane. Friggin amazing. Like what about your enclosure makes it be able to get so low and, well, amazing?

Thanks Trevor:p
HAHA. Nice pun.

If they are embedded as I think he said they are you would not be able to tell... Mine weren't even embedded when the sub blew and nobody could tell what was wrong... From the outside of the sub it looked absolutely fine.

Old Havoc Vs. New Havoc differences?
You have stumped me! Those specs are very different from the 'newer' Havocs'...

Ya vids FTW. That is a huge box! Gotta love the lows. Why did ya take the fi logo off of the dustcap? Or was that accidental.

Box design help
Cardboard boxes will save you a lot of time and wood. I can get my box in and out without a slight problem through the actual trunk... But yeah good luck with the build.

Box design help
It's worth a try, but the only spot I'd even have room is maybe towards the front of the box (towards of the edge of the trunk) on the side. nick_19's suggest would probably work since height is the main problem. Doing that will alow me to make it deeper and wider without having any problems fitting it in the trunk. What would be the optimal configuration for the port though? You mentioned facing it towards the side. What sort of advantage would this offer as opposed to rear firing? I also mentioned on CA-F how I wanted to do a plexiglass window with my box, but the port would be in the way and I didn't want to do one where the sub mounted. If I end up doing a box like that, I'mm end up putting a window on either the side facing inside the car or in the rear with blue LED's. So funny. Check the box in this video out. It is the same box I just posted a pic of... It has a plexi window in it w/ blue LED's! I don't know how other setups sound, but I have just heard that you get a dB boost and lower peak freq by firing it to the drivers side. You can always move it around and try diff setups. Any questions just ask... Sounds like you'll end up building a box exactly like mine haha.

Fi Q 12 dead
Same thing happened to my Havoc... very random death with no apparent cause. My problem turned out that the driver had overexurted, spider crashed into top plate, and tinsels were severed internally, which I could not see obviously...

Box design help
I had extreme difficulties finding a way to get my 15 in my trunk with the 4.5 cu ft net I wanted and 60 sq in of port area... My solution was the box design I now use. Try sub facing up with port firing to the side. (either side will work, although from what Trevor from PTS said, firing to the driver's side is "mic friendly" and lowers your peak freq a little bit) Building the box like this is nice. I too had height problems, but now my box is only 13 inches high, but I could make it sooo much wider and deeper. Here is a pic of my box and plans for ya to look at.

Upgrading my setup
He is only running 1000 watts to his sub... He doesn't need to spend the money on multiple batts IMO... I'd just say a new alt and a good batt up front will do just fine...

Upgrading my setup
Is the smell kind of like rotten eggs? If so, that is a problem you need to address IMMEDIATELY. That would be the coils of your subwoofer getting way too hot and exceeding their thermal limits, which has potential to cause permanent damage or even failure of the driver. As far as the alt goes... Power cannot be made. 70 amps*14.4 volts (optimum, most likely not realistic) = 1008 watts. Power cannot just be made out of nowhere. You are most likely not able to draw enough power for your sub, and are running your amp into clipping and sending too much power to the sub, which causes the coil to heat up and smell horrible. Upgrade alternator, primary batt, and big 3 and then we'll be talking! Ditch the batcap. Just have a good primary batt and a good alternator and that will be all you need. Give us a budget and we'll try to work things out for you... I'd say hold off on the new box and the new speakers and amp... Get your electrical a new batt and alt first with big 3, then go with new speakers and amp, then a new box.

A lot of money put into this... but a lot more work. Great job man! Same age as you.... My system is not near on the level yours is though, nor as clean Great work.
