Each series of subs no matter frame size uses the same motor. The BTL is compromised of 220oz slugs, while iirc (cant remember off of the top of my head sorry) the Q uses ~125oz, 20mm slugs. There's no sense in making any 'bigger' motors than what we have now for the appropriate series of woofers, we are getting the preformance that we want out of them, and everybody that has them seems to be pretty satisfied . You run into issues like saturation and many other things when you keep going bigger and bigger (not to mention shipping would be more...and at the end of the day it would cost the end consumer more money, for something that yeilds very little to no benefit at all what so ever). By using the same motor on a particular series of woofers no matter what 'size' you choose for them to be, it makes it much easier for us to customize the sub for you as well. It's no huge deal to turn a SSD 10 into a SSD 18, simple basket change and a recone and your good to go. Hope this helps a little.... -Nick
  3. it may work with 1/2" material, the 3/4+ it wont work, it just sweats it and busts .

depends on how far you are from the back of the box, i dont have a box program here so i can't calculate the proper length to tune to the given frequency that your looking for
  5. NDMstang65 replied to kyle7560's topic in General Fi
Use a 4" aero and tune it accordingly.
  6. Steam won't work with MDF...not a good idea
  7. Just one given scenario and one given install...only reason we did the 12 challenge is to give a basis in a given application for all different woofers. Put that same box in your car, it'l act completely different.

    aw tom, come now.
  15. you tried to cheat
  16. Cone geometry on the BTL 10 is horrid...the BL's use close to the same suspension as the Q does, basically its a spaced spider setup, instead of the sandwich.. So no the BL 10 shouldn't have the issue, we figured it out with the Q.

I added your writeup to the BTL information section, very well done. Now i have a question, what, if anything, do you not like about either the subs, or your experience thus far with us? Thanks! -Nick
