  1. It's probably going to shift once you put power to it... Which is why you always check things from UPS as soon as you get them. Please send it in with all of your contact information...once we get magnets in we'll get it built back up and out to you.
  2. Dealers cannot stock 300 different versions of a BTL that we can build . They are both 'different'..and unique in and of themselves.
  3. Yes D2 is universal. Thanks!
  4. is that the aq2200d? I've heard of nuuuuuuuuuuuumerous problems out of those things. Thanks for the compliments as well!
  5. Few things wrong here... 1) bass boost. 2) subsonic filter. Bass boost 'Boosts' a certain frequency when it hits...if you are already over driving the amp it will cause it to 'try' to do that 6dB of boost...even though it cant do it. Subsonic filter on that amplifier is on or off at 25Hz if i remember correctly at 12db/octave which is a VERY shallow slope. Using that amp and no other filtering means you could tune your enclosure no higher than 28Hz. Otherwise you will be playing full power far below tuning of the enclosure..in turn yanking the soft parts to/past the mechanical limits of the suspension... We've had a few Q's burn up on those amps because of this exact problem. To think it only costs a manufacturer 3 bucks to make an adjustable subsonic filter on top of the one that they already have simply baffles me. We make long coil high excursion subs...we do not want to take a different approach and put 30 spiders on the subs and use a 1" long coil...which results in no excursion... Please email [email protected] as I am out of town until January.
  6. Your BTL is the first one to ship once we get the second order of magnets in...it was never going to go last Thursday because you were the very first order for the second shipment of magnets to be in. Thanks!
  7. Taken care of..you should have an email back.
  8. Will be available to dealers January 1st.
  9. Need your name and order number (Should be a I-31309 type number)...It may have left already.. I can't do much with a screen name Please email it to me Nick at ficaraudio.com
  10. Everything is coded on the website..you are given a total prior to entering your credit card information.
  11. Yes..Scott hurt his back and needless to say with him down and out I have not touched email...I will definitely get you taken care of on Monday.
  12. It depends upon application and the user. Generally 200-400 watts...
  13. And see people melt them with a jl 1000/1 or something like that blows my mind Can't control the loose nuts behind the volume knobs.
  14. Didn't see this.. What did you need a recone for? Please shoot me an email [email protected] and I'll get you taken care of. Thanks!
  15. New ones have a rebate in the backplate for a sticker...most new ones have the hyperpole option as well. The old BL's pole didn't extend too much out of the gap. The new pole is much taller as well.. You can order either recone right off of the website.
  16. The new motor is 220mm in diameter, the old one is 190mm in diameter.
  17. NDMstang65 replied to tef1986's topic in General Fi
Loaded BTL 18's with NO spl option..daily gap. Coils you choose depends on the amp.
  18. do i select the upgrades and will it only charge me normal price? Or do I just add a BL and you guys will do the upgrades for me at no charge? If you click the drop down box the options say $+0 where they normallly say +40 and +20. So yes, click the boxes. It will not charge you for it and the machine shop and build shop knows what it is that you are getting.
  19. The sub is in a 3.0-3.1 cubic foot enclosure tuned to around 32-33 hz. Im running it of a JL 1000/1. I was playing songs like "soul survivor" Akon and Jeezy. If you blew a BL on a 1000 watt amp it's without a doubt the gains, tuning, "SUPER BASS" setting on the head unit and the loose nut behind the knobs Speakers are stupid...they do exactly what you tell them to do
  20. Clipping LED's are worthless. Unloading occurs when you play below the tuning frequency of the port of the enclosure. If you do not have the subsonic filter set 2-3Hz below the tuning frequency of the enclosure the amplifier will play full power to the sub. Once you go below the tuning frequency of the enclosure the port no longer resonates and acts as if it were a big open hole in the box...you do not burn coils from this. You break things mechanically when you unload them, you do not burn coils. Resulting in yanking parts..popping spiders etc. If you burned the coils and/or tinsels up you are clipping them. Regardless what that little LED says. The only way to know that you are not clipping is via an Oscilloscope.
  21. Bigger box means you do not have to have as much power to get to full stroke. Regardless the key to the equation is subsonic filters, mindful of your gain(s) and volume knobs...most importantly no bass boost.
  22. Way too much power. It's a little 2" coil 300 watts...
  23. I've wanted to change ours to "We can't fix stupid" for a long time. I sooooooooooooooo want to get away from this sess pool of idiocracy.
  24. I can't tell where the aluminum came from as the pictures that are available are fuzzier then the dice that hung in 1950's vintage cars. If you sit there and think about it for a minute that cast aluminum piece is VERY very soft. When it is compressed (which it could have very well been on the bottom of the basket) Would still compress into the plastic when it is torqued down. That little shaving of material is from reaming the screw holes out on the casting from the basket. If it is an 18 then they are reamed. If it is a 15 then they are not, neither are the 12's. The 18's come from the casting company in raw form that is coated. All of the finish work is done in house. It's very possibly that a shaving of aluminum could be under the bottom of the basket. Regardless if it was or if it was not it would not cause that kind of damage, as it is all compressed down when the bolts are torqued to the top plate the plastic has enough give that it would very easily compress and never ever cause an issue. If the coil was rubbing we would have heard it on the test bench...coils just don't start rubbing with time nor do spiders start jumping around over a year period of time either. If you would like I can prove to you next week that those same aluminum shavings would never cause it to be off center once the screws are compressing the assembly with a dial gauge on the lathe if you insist. Bottom line. User error, in many counts. 1) destroying the sub. 2) never saying anything about the basket being bent in the first place when it was received. 3) Bass boost. 4) The frame was bent either in shipping or dropped outside of that and nothing was done about it. The sub was put in the enclosure with the bent frame therefore leaking around the edge of the gasket...causing the sub to have a huge leaking box and the port not acting as it should. The bass boost and other issues only added to this problem. If something were said before we would gladly have gotten a UPS claim going and got things taken care of ASAP. Nothing was ever said, nor was anything ever done. A bunch of torn up and burned up parts have pictures taken of them expecting us to be able to figure out what is going on...when there's no way we could tell what happened. Something should have been said first...it wasn't...nothing was ever said until the sub was dead. I can't believe the thing lasted a year with a leaking box with a bunch of power...that's a shock in and of itself, especially considering the amount of abuse that was thrown at it. Anybody else would say the exact same thing...if nothing was ever said... You can get a recone if you want.
