  1. Everything I have studied for 2 hrs basically says you're seled side privides deep solid bass, while the ported/open end tuning boosts upper frequencies. Also read the open side is generally a 2-3:1 ratio. I looked at a formula for calculateing bandpass boxes and mind melted.LOL I have the room in my AV to try one- but I just don't know if I'll be better just sticking to my ported design. The 4th order bandpass would be easier to build IMO when you take into account that it would only be 1 hole through my 'show' baffle. Anyone interested in designing something for 2 15" DSS Ethos...48wx20hx deep as you need.
  2. Why is it that many many build lately have a box similar to this: (no math was used- just a visual interpretation) I guess what I don't understand is how those lil flaps on each side are a port....just seems like an open hole to me. Are these boxes more musicl or SPL oriented? i am assuming SPL, as most that I see are in competition vehicles.
  3. Thats because you don't have near enough port area... the smaller the ports- the shorter for the port length for desired tuning. I don't deal with port tubes...so i cant camment on how much port area you should have...but I SERIOUSLY doubt 14 cubic inches is enough for 2 31mm xmax subs. Edit: LOL He beat me to it....
  4. holy crap at the batteries! This thing is insane.lol Nice work!
  5. okay- the blue logo is sweet! the red isn't bad either...
  6. My 2 favorites...Good work Smashed.
  7. And this is why Q is da man. Puts stuff is term thae average guy can understand.
  8. Man! you could eat of those things. Gotta love some slow speeds. Our Cooper at my last platform ran at a whopping 250-275 rpm....but she would just chug right along. Looked pretty much the same, just not nearly so clean/pretty. The salty offshore environment is rough on the surfaces. Wish I had some pics to share.
  9. Weather is supposed to be good- Broncos 35-28.
  10. yep Bassink...that is what he said in the 10's thread. It just confused me cause I was under the impression that the Ethos 18's were coming sooner than this fall/winter...
  11. Q- you still planning the 18" ethos? I saw in the 10" thread the you stated late this yr, but also mentioned that the 10 would be a different line.
  12. Isee the pics on post 1, awesome work! But I don't see a pic on post 11...
  13. Cool!! I feel sorry for those doors!LOL
  14. Yay- I like the white...easier to read with my blind ass. only thing is that the white font in my sig doesn't show.LOL
  15. There are several advantages, but they come at great expense in comparison to regular lead acid. Thanks for clarifying...I was confused for a moment. I knew that going from a standard Bat to a blue top Optima in my Vitara made a big difference in my lights dimming. But i done the Big 3 at the same time.
  16. Love German wagons for some reason. Looks nice.
  17. You assume higher than rated power. It is quite possible that after rise his amp might be seeing more like 3.2ohms or so. I'm somewhat sure that i'd say there's ISN'T a full 5800rms going to this thing. I'd say if it did go overpowered that it wouldn't be by as much as you'd think. Ahh- I see.
  18. not sure if that was sarcasm or not....but I figure a year of pounding on much higher that 'rated' power is decent...maybe I am missing something being rather novice compared to you guys.
  19. I think thats a pretty good testament for the Sub...
  20. So their is no advantage of running AGM's over Lead acid other than being leak proof? Wow- mind is blown.
  21. That is impressive at the power level you threw at them...I have nearly no concerns running them off rated power levels, after seeing what your have stood up to. Hope to pay mine off by 3/15(or sooner).
