  1. No one probably said anything because your stuff is really cluttered and you're not really giving us sufficient information. You are basically asking us about a box design, so I don't think money is an issue. What are your goals?
  2. More likely than not, you will be more than satisfied with the output from your icons. Not to mention it will sound really clean too
  3. For how much money you will be planning on spending already, don't even think about the Hifonics amp. Kicker without a question.
  4. Sundown proves itself again, and again
  5. How so? I love when people try and be a smart ass and end up looking just like an ass instead. I quoted the recommended box size from nick in a post on this forum so i obviously looked around. The one thing i did miss on the website was the fact that it did list the displacement of the sub so i can figure out what i need with that seeing as the recommended box size was AFTER displacements and i had no idea how deep the sub was and its displacement. I wasn't trying to be a smart ass you overconfident "know it all but not really". You asked a question and I gave you an answer. I could have told you the answer but you would have learned nothing. I pointed you in the right direction and as a result for that, you found your answer. Don't get pissed because in the end you realize that the question you asked was pretty lame and all you have to do was look for yourself. See I'm not that much of a dumbass. It was all in front of your face but you didn't even try to look.
  6. Not gonna lie, I am actually going to be waiting for a new thread post titled "My car won't start....." And inside that thread will be "i dunno...i jus playd ma subz for a few minz and den all of a suden smoke came from ma hood and da car shut off. wut do i do? and turned the key again and i got notin....stupid subz......" I hope you thought about your electrical buddy.
  7. The larger you go with a ported box, the deeper it will sound and your lows will be stronger. Power handling goes down but its probably not going to be that big of a deal with 1000 watts. If I were you I would use all the space that you are willing to give up, but not exceeding the recommended ported specs.
  8. That was 4 minutes and 37 seconds that I could have spent with someone I love...
  9. Haha. Whatever floats your boat. Competing is your thing so who cares right. My boat sinks without hesitation but thats just me
  10. No. No one can tell you what the perfect sound is. That is for your preferences. What kind of sound you want decides what kind of box you make. And the box you make decides the sound you get. What the hell? That still means nothing...
  11. Just a small simple suggestion. A tiny one. Nothing much. Just a little something..... Go to the website where you BOUGHT your sub woofer off of and take a peak at what the recommended box specs are. You might find something amazing. How so?
  12. Wow. Do the looks of the wood bother you at all? I would feel like I have an 1800's piano in the back of my SUV. But other than that. Those are some impressive numbers. Nice
  13. Are you looking to buy speakers? Or build your own... I'm assuming to want to power the Q with its full power handling. A Plate Amp or Rack Mount Amp that would be ideal is the Dayton HPSA1000 or the Dayton HPSA1000-R.
  14. 6 of those ^^^

For the rack mount amp http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...9256050#reviews For the plate amp http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...6744082#reviews You just gotta read the reviews. I know that its only a few out of a lot that said they are junk, but I think I am going to go with a QSC GX5 with a single channel of 850rms or a dual channel 700rms. Will be plenty enough especially if I decide to go with a second sub down the road.

This the amp http://crownaudio.com/amp_htm/xti.htm. It says that it has XLR inputs. I looked at Parts Express and there are no XLR to RCA adapters. I know that Sony is really good with video processing. Should I just use this receiver as pretty much a "Video Receiver"? Then buy a preamp, a crossover with subwoofer out, an amp, and an equalizer for my audio?
  17. If you are looking for a cheap way to reach half the power that amp is rated at, then it will be just fine. But don't cry if that amp $hits on you in a little while.

I currently have a SONY STR-DG820 A/V receiver (got it for free) and the subwoofer output is a single RCA. Is it not possible to use a Crown XTi 1000? (I have never seen connectors like the back of the Crown before) I originally was going to power a Fi Q18 with a Dayton HPSA1000-R 1000W Rackmount Subwoofer Amplifier. But then as far as the reviews go that amp is highly overrated. I don't have a serious problem with that but I would like to get a quality subwoofer amplifier because I don't plan on having the SONY receiver forever. Thanks.
  19. Okay, that answers my question. Thanks a lot.
  20. Well my main question is do I need a 1 inch baffle or will 3/4" all around be the way to go.
  21. Yes. That or 4 ohm.
  22. I am on the verge building an 8 cube sealed box for a Fi Q18 which I will be buying in the next 2 weeks. I was set on everything until I came across one question. Do I need to have a 1 inch baffle? I plan on double baffle flush mounting. I was going to build is all from 3/4" MDF with a lot of internal bracing. No polyfill since I am maxing out the dimensions. My dimensions are: W:40" D:21" H:21" (will fit nicely in the spot of the room i picked ) Besides the baffle question, does anyone see any problems with my plans?
  23. Yea not gonna lie, as soon as the bumper gets painted as rest of the car, its gonna be tight.
  24. That right there says a lot. You are only looking to get loud. Hence the BL is your future sub.
