My goal with this system is purely SPL. My system I have now I designed more for SQ and although it sounds good Its not loud enough for me. I want head cracking lows, very tight mid-bass and every thing else in my face. I don't compete or show it off really, just for me on my way to work and back and I like it VERY LOUD!!! The new list of equipment includes the new Alpine MRP-M2000, 15" BTL fully loaded, XS Power D3400, D1200, 2nd run 1/0 to back, and lots of Second skin. I will be built the box into the car foward facing into the cabin with the trunk sealed. After I get the sub set up I plan on upgrading the fronts with Image Dynamics XS-65 on my MRP-F600. "purely SPL" means a one note vehicle to us.

The 8's will have slightly less cone area, but more motor strength, and power handling, and heat dissipation. Put the 8's in a superior enclosure and they'll be louder

I just say that because there was a kid I went to high school with that was I guess a little slow on getting to puberty, so he had a doctor prescribe him something to speed it up. You should have more than that, that's minimum. If you want to play at full volume for more than a few minutes get more power.

Amplifier choice won't matter much, JL audio and Rockford Fosgate both make excellent amplifiers. Don't chose one over the other because it puts out more power, that is what a gain knob is for.

I'd go the 1/0 gauge way, in case you ever wanted to upgrade amplifiers in the future
