Strapping them or gain matching will be just fine. Strapping would be the safest way.

Welcome to SSA, we have quite a few enclosure experts on here so ask away.

Another way to avoid this is predrill and use T-nuts and bolts instead of screws. They are much stronger and will allow you to remove your subwoofers without tearing up the wood.
