  1. I have to tread lightly here, ricers need alternators too, but I bet you could guess what I drive by the grease on the block.
  2. Be careful washing the engine, distributors and alternators don't like a lot of water or having things blasted into them!
  3. You're welcome Peter!
  4. Very nice! Always good to see our units continuing to satisfy customers!
  5. Belt noise on startup is usually an indicator of improper belt tension. Also this can be caused by excessive battery discharge with the engine off, don't play your system with your car off.

  8. At this time I do not have a unit for this application. Most applications will run 1-2 years behind the new applications.
  9. The first video shows you the visible differences between the 2011 SMD unit and the 2012. Videos to come shortly of the 2012 unit on the dyno to show you the brutal power curve these units produce. Up until I sold my Crown Victoria I personally ran one of these units in my daily driver, total reliability and incredible performance all the time.
  10. We do not have a direct fit application at this time. We can custom build a unit to fit this application, email [email protected] for information.
  11. Without the complete year, make, model and engine of your vehicle it is impossible to know what will fit.
  12. The message center gets power from the factory regulator as key-on power. In order to correct the message center warning when using an external regulator it is necessary to jump the appropriate pin in the factory alternator plug to key-on power. This can be from the switched power location on the external regulator and will allow the message center to function as normal.
  13. The brake booster fault message is not charging system related, make sure you didn't accidentally disconnect something when installing the unit. As for the message center, when the correct wire is powered the message center will see proper voltage and know that the vehicle is charging.
  14. I will be sending my alternator to you soon Eric, just had to get paid first so I could get my alternators switched. Send me a message when it's on it's way and we will get you handled fast.
  15. Toyota dealers can do this, the problem is getting them to do it. They will tell you they can't, it's because they won't. They don't want to risk any liability in making that kind of adjustment.
  16. I have not seen a vehicle yet with an electronic throttle body that can't have the idle speed raised via a flash at the dealer. They may not want to do it, but it can be done.
  17. Last weekend the Mechman Jeep had to pull a full-size Blazer up a muddy obstacle. Temps in the 20's, wet ground don't make for a lot of fun when you are stuck, but the 14v batteries with the 270a Mechman alternator power this Smittybilt 8k winch quite well. Check out the video to see what this is all about- <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/-UaN6RAOGuQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> http://youtu.be/-UaN6RAOGuQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UaN6RAOGuQ&list=UUJjdch1py9Moz126daEkBGg&index=1&feature=plcp So who here wants 14v power?
  18. The idle speed is adjustable via a flash program available from an import tuning shop or the dealer. This will allow cars with a lower idle to use the higher output units.
  19. The in-gear idle on the A/T cars is what kills it, the Denso's fall just below turn-on even with a 44mm pulley. My BMW idles even lower than that at times, down around 500rpm, it kills alternator output.
  20. Thanks for the input Kyle, nice to hear from you.
  21. Both Matt and I will be in the office tomorrow if you wish to call and discuss this unit. We don't have a smaller pulley as going smaller will limit the belt contact and promote slip. If you can find a pulley that is smaller feel free to try it out, we won't void your warranty unless you damage the unit, and unless it exceeds 21k rpm of rotor speed I don't see that happening without opening the case or improperly installing the pulley. Some companies offer smaller pulleys to compensate for their underdrive crank pulley, check around and see what is smaller for your application. The easiest alternative would be to have the idle speed increased 100rpm to compensate and have the alternator speed high enough to charge at idle in gear.
  22. Shipping more of these units today! Order yours today!
  23. 44 views and a bunch of phone calls later I have a few of these out the door. Anyone else want one? I have cases in stock and ready to build!
