  1. high of 96 today too hot Holy hell! Must suck to live in AZ. For about the past two weeks or so it's been a cool 60-75 degrees outside everyday, which is about perfect. 60 is a little cool...but when it's around 70-75 it's just great. So nice.
  2. Tommorrow my good man. Pics should come tommorrow.
  3. And this spring weather abso-pucking-lutely rocks
  4. Haven't posted in teh IHoP for a while Have some free time on my hands, so I've been slowly working on my stereo. Just need some odds & ends from PE to arrive tommorrow, and the amp rack should be ready to go in for semi-permanent mounting. Which means I'll actually have music in my car again for the first time in..ohhh....a month or so.
  5. Yeah...beaming will be your worst enemy when trying to play 20khz through a 2" driver. If you read that "what DW thinks will happen in car audio in the near future" thing over on SIN...that's basically what Dan said is where he sees the market heading. A good, long excursion 2" full range capable of keeping it's composer down to ~250-300hz, playing all the way up to 20khz, with a shallow mount 8" midwoofer (which, by the way...if you're going to do the 2", you might aswell have them design you a shallow mount, long throw 8" midbass aswell and offer them as a set). What I would like to see, is an XBL^2 HLCD with a good full bodied horn body attached to it. Something that will play relatively clean down to ~250hz (with some EQ work)...but at 105db+ efficiency I had mentioned this to Dan a while ago in a thread over on ECA....he basically said it's completely possible. I just don't have the funds to do it.
  6. I'm not sure I'm following what you're trying to do. If you're reconing the subwoofer into an 18", then why do you need the e12a cone and coil still, and why are you worried about attaching a new surround and spider to them?
  7. Yup...the DCR will almost always be lower than the nominal impedance (the only exception I know of is Resonant Engineering, who's "dual 2ohm" coils have an Re (DCR) of 2.4-2.6ohm). Resistance, the DCR, is constant and does not change. This is what you measure with your multimeter. Impedance, the nominal 4ohm rating, is not constant and will fluctuate based on frequency, the enclosure, etc. This is why the impedance is called "nominal", because it's sort of an average of what load the subwoofer will present to the amplifier throughout it's intended bandwidth. Anyways....those SW8200's have me seriously interested. I really would like to try one out.
  8. Two different things. Mat deadeners/clay/lead shot in epoxy ( ) = mass loading. They don't do crap for the soundwaves, but they add mass to the panel and reduce the vibrations and change the resonant frequency of the panel. Absorption/reflection/diffraction of sound waves = barrier loading. This is the foam and deflex pad products. They don't do crap for resonances. You can (and should) use both....line the enclosure with something heavy to reduce vibrations and resonances, then use foam/deflex pads to absorb, reflect and/or diffract the soundwaves.
  9. Not all of us have only parents/significant others to deal with. There are certain things my children shouldn't be subjected to quite just yet
  10. Werewolf's posts alone make it worth your while.
  11. I'd never heard that information before? Where did you hear it? Sure you're not thinking of the RF units?
  12. You're right...your new avatar doesn't do it anymore. Now if only we can get Kent to change his avatar or sig aswell
  13. Use IE That's what I've been having to do It doesn't do it in IE, only Mozilla
  14. Commonly used approach is to just use non-hardening modeling clay.....but I suppose if the lead is heavy enough and would stick well with the epoxy to the kickpanels...I suppose that should work. I don't know, off hand, how much heavier lead shot is per cubic inch than something like modeling clay, or how much more/less expensive per ounce/pound. Interesting thread about mass loading vs bracing: http://forum.carstereos.org/advanced-audio...ghlight=bracing
  15. I'm using Mozilla Firefox. And it's only on this forum...any other webpage or forum and it works perfectly. But on this forum, anybody with large avatars and sigs (like mrray or Eldorado) causes the page to scroll very slowly (actually freezes up the browser for a few seconds) and the loading is very slow aswell. Any fix to this? Any settings I need to change in Firefox? Any other firefox users experiencing the same thing?

They do rape you on shipping. However, I live within 4hrs of PE...so I automatically get "free" overnight shipping since it only takes 1 day to arrive :
