I can only begin to think what the motor looks like! It's an 18" 4,000 watt subwoofer so I am sure the motor is not smallish!

Wire terminals are bridged internally! So yes!

If you have any mechanical ability at all and the tools, then yes it's a piece of wood!

Nothing wrong with not running a SSF or even a fixed SSF. Just be smart when setting up your amplifier and make sure your ported enclosure is correct.

Would you have a budget for buying a custom made enclosure?

Or you could wire each coil to some threaded rod for binding posts, then off to the amp!

Results look great! I like the custom made speakers better for the cosmetics!
