  1. If I'm not mistaken, your gonna need that HO Output asap to be able to try and keep up with charging all of those batts. Even if they are beastly, their gna need a beastly Alt to keep up. This build is gna be sick tho! When r you gna get started? Has any of this been actually purchased or is all this still on paper? (baller lol)
  2. Very good Q, I was wondering the exact same thing. Going through this forum, I have read that some people will have one HO Alt for their car itself. And then the other two or one HO Alt will be tuned with the 16v system. I think some people could benefit from this system has it would give the amps more wattage output if they can handle that many Volt. (I think) Hopefully someone will chime in.
  3. Wow, you need to relax. Sean was saying to be more descriptive with your goals, and that we have taken the time to provide new member guidelines. These topics are in place to make questions or topics far more effective. In no way is anyone saying that anyone else needs to pick all out SQ or all out SPL. It is not about wrong terminology, it is about using a better narrative and not being trapped by generic terms that does not help the goal of the install. No one attacked you, only thing people did was try to get better background information to help contribute more effectively, and that is what is different about SSA, and why this place is far superior to most every other forum. If you took a moment to look around, of the member base, VERY few are actual competitors. Most everyone cares about great sound and performance in their car for their ears. I personally could not give two cents about what judges think, as I am against putting effort into anything that is subjectively judged when it comes to competition in anyway. Next, if you had taken the time to look around, you would have seen that many of the senior members on here are on the staff or are considered senior members because THEY have tackled things such as complicated theory, construction and many different design processes. We have dedicated staff members for higher level questions and challenges, we have dedicated sections for technical and advanced topics. It is very well organized and very good information that is extremely accessible. There are not pissing wars here, you have the wrong site. If you think **** is where you need to go, you have some serious questions to ask yourself. That site, the staff, the host, the lay out, and so on fails hard with a vengeance, anyone that has a clue in the audio forum world knows that it, along with a few others, sits at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to a quality forum that can be a resource. Calm the hell down, get your goals and priorities in order. If not, go hang out on a site that is counterintuitive, not beneficial and filled with kiddies that have minimal experience. ^^ This
  4. Maybe he was only going 5-10 lol. If the roads wer slippery, then maybe he whipped the car around and whipped that broken wheel into a low curb... Maybe lol. That is a lot of damage though.
  5. ^^ JW, is this a standard? Because I know a few companies try to point out that they exceed the "standard" thread count or what not, JW is this is just a marketing scheme or not? I"ve seen companies like RF do this with their wiring packages.
  6. Is there any way you can upload some pics of the wire? I'm curious to see what they look like.
  7. A "Sold" button I think would be a great addition.
  8. Very good looking so far!
  9. No, have not been able to get back to this. Life slammed me pretty hard, so my audio is on hold. Any updates?
  10. Congrats!! I have a few buddy that lives up there and he enjoys it a lot. He moved from dallas, tx to CO, lol Really nice scenery,
  11. hahahahah, Lmao, funny story. Court fines are a bitch down here in Nashville. Once I didn't have insurance (still don't), so I got a 180 ticket for that, but that was only from the county, next thing I know, 3 months later I get a ticket from the state for not having insurance FML. They got dismissed since I grabed insurance a few days b4 the court date. Yeah, cops sometimes don't have shit else to do. I swear to you, just the other week, I got pulled over for my tints that on my front doors. But it was phucking 2 oclock in the dam morning! NO shit ther gna look dark lmao.
  12. Hey man sick build! I can't believe that is your first box, I call BS lol So whats next to come for this build?
  13. Well in your case, your right lol. In your case, I bet its probly optimal to set it up the way you do.
  14. In generally, I know theres a shit ton to do with it, but how did those ppl accomplish this? Just simply have some good aftermarket equipment and had their crossovers all setup properly and aiming their speakers in the right direction? I guess I need to go and google how to setup a stage, I don't wna take up u guys time win I can go read 23 pages myself:suicide-santa:
  15. Well thank broke it done very nicely I love analogies, there easy to understand. Well what if you have 4 good speakers, wouldn't that help as well? I understand what your saying, and I'm not tryna throw a whole bunch of what ifs out there, kuz I hate that, but hyptheticaly, if beandip added another $600 component set in his rear, wouldn't he still benefit from it?? Or will that just be totally unessasary and a waste of money?
  16. Hahaha, that was funny. But ok, I see why you are running your setup that way, which makes sense. Well, with my build, I will definately setup the front first as well. But I will like to try to put just as much effort in the rear. If time and money permits of course. But now I do understand the whole "stage" effect. But IMO, I guess I've always enjoy the music/sound, all around me. When I set up some home speakers in my bedroom, I changed the location from just in front, then to all around, and even though it was true surround, as stated earlier, the sound was around me, and was more enjoyable to my likeing. I know HT and CA is wayyyyy different, but jus as an example. Same thing with watching tv, or playing the xbox with headphones. And besides that, (I think) that the more speakers I have, then the more headroom I will have availible on my speakers and amp(s). Not sure if thats completely true statement or not, but i think it makes sense Anywho, thanks for sharing your experience!
  17. lol yeah, after that long you would be. Nice truck btw! holy crap is it shiny And thats exactly what I was thinking, like, if its on, then you wouldn't notice much, but if its off, then it would be missing that sound, don't know how to word it lol. So obviously, you don't won't the rear overpowering your front stage, I'm assuming. But why only a tade bit few clicks? Why not have the front and rear balanced? Does that too have something to do with the whole frequency adjusting? Or is that just a preference?
  18. Thats a pretty impressive HU then. What about other rear passangers? What are their opinions? Not to say I don't trust your family's opinion, I just know that most families don't want their child to be exposed to loud music. I have 3" full range speakers on my dash, aimed rearward running on 15watts. They are audible and sound great, even with my 15" BTL playing at high levels. HOW and WHY do the 3"s keep up? Because they are the only source of the frequencys they are playing and don't encounter cancelation. (single point source) AND VERY little power is needed to produce higher frequency's. I like healthy midbass too so I also have midbass speakers. ALL speakers crossed at the approprriate frequencys, as to not overlap and cause peaks or cancalation in the FR. As far as rear passengers opinions, I have alot of people ride around with me. Alot of music loving men, quite a few play in bands. They are amazed at the acoustics in the car, even riding in the back. My 9 yr old daughter is the other one that rides in the back. She likes dad to turn it up LOUD, and can sing along NO problem. I almost think some days that the back seat is the best in the car due to more equal path lenghts of the single point source sound. The last thing I wanted to add is, when I had to run without midbasses, I had the 3"s playing down to 200hz. Most people couldn't tell the mids were even off, ESPECIALLY at high volume levels. I use to make this statement and believed myself. I had rear speakers for years. I would say I liked the "club" sound. I think the only time it sounded decent was when I listened to rap, and even then I am happier now. wow..... very interesting. I will definately keep this in mind with my car audio ventures. That helps me out a lot coming from some1 who has experienced a before and after, and you wer also a believer in all around speakers, which makes it easier to relate. Thanks for sharing
  19. Did you ever get a answer to this? I'm curious as well since I too drive a explorer
  20. I think I'm on the same boat with you. And now throughout this thread, I firmly believe it is a preference on what people decide to do with their speakers. I mean, I've always known that, but as far as why people decide to overload their front stage, and leave the rear as non-important for different reason that I now understand.
  21. This forum is the shit, I signed up a while back, and never just took the time to get to know everybody (still haven't), but its by far my favorite place to go while I'm at work on the PC all day
  22. Quick note: you can always squeeze any size in a whole, no pun intended, you could simply shave off the outter threading of the copper wire until it fits. But only enough to get the apropiate amount inside.
  23. http://www.bcae1.com/ Go to this site, click on number 16 on the right side of the page, listed as "wire" You should be able to find your answer there
