  1. Hey Guys, Just wanted to give an update to how my system has been progressing over this past year, particularly with my subwoofer. I've taken some pictures so you guys can take a look at it for yourself. So let me go ahead and state there is no bashing here towards SSA or F.i. has a build house, this is just what I've experienced. But first, let me go ahead and explain my driving habbits. I take a lot of road trips. Anywhere from 3-6 a year. Which most average around the 7 hour mark. Also, I do a lot of driving around as well. Prior to my new job that started in just this past October, I had a 40 mile round trip to work. Outside of that, I also go driving around downtown and around the city during the weekends. This can easily average out to around 100 miles per weekend. Second, I will explain my listening habbits. My listening habbits can be very extreme. I don't listen to any slowed down music and I may listen to DJSNT or Decaf maybe 7% out of all my music. Most of my music comes from an online rap/hip-hop mixtape website and/or direct rip'd albums which I listen via iPod or the traditional CD Player. For those long road trips, I should also mention that I watch movies, for which will be at full volume (40/40). So just figureativily speaking, this may not be 100% accurate, but for my traditonal driving, (to work and back), I may have the volume full tilt for 30-40% of the drive. For driving around the city on the weekend, probabaly more up towards 80% full tilt at which will be long durations, (5+ straight songs back to back) at any given time. For the road trips outside of watching the movie, which again is at full tilt, I will say maybe around 30-40% of the drive is at fulll time, but is more spread out. I.e. full tilt for 20-30 mins then back down to 50% volume or something. So as you can see, I am very hard on my equipment. Now that you have an idea of my driving and listening habbits, I will explain the rest of the system followed by pictures. I have 3 group 31 batteries and 1 stock 130amp alternator supplemented by 1 1/0 run and 1 2gauge power wire from front to back with 2 of the batteires within 3 of the amplifier (crescendo bc5500 at 1ohm). The gain was set by ear which is a little less than half way mark, maybe right at 44 degrees. I've been through two enclosures. One which was 8.3 cuft net, and this one now which is 7 cuft net. On to the pictures. Below is what I noticed in August? Not too sure, but me and Teric estimated this had happen sometime after SBN. As you can see, only one pair was affected, not sure if it was the possitive or negative lead. Keep this in mind as I load the next images. Thanks to the help of Teric, we were able to solder the lead back onto the coil lead as soft parts were not in at the time for an recone.
  2. The pre order is over for them, at least for the special pricing, you can still place your order via the site. They are back in production.

  6. I fear if you run more than 1000 watts each, they might fail. This depending on your listening habits and the material you're playing. Either way, if you do decide to run more than rated, I highly suggest you learn to listen to the signs of failure. Also, the icon is a far superior product. No comparison.
  7. I believe he was referring to the products that he offers has my initial email had requested.

  10. Nice!
  11. Oh man, this looks exciting
  12. I spoke with John over at AE, and here is what he had to say. I believe this is the driver that I will be using. Great customer service and very informative company. Hello, The best 12" driver to get up to the 1KHz range is going to be the TD12M. It is also the most efficient. The only drawback is that it has only 6mm Xmax vs 14mm Xmax of our other drivers. If you are going down to only 40hz though for an SQ system you should be fine with the Xmax. This gives 105dB at 40hz at 1m modelled. Your vehicle transfer function should be similar to my old bravada, GMC jimmy, or 4 runner I have measured. All are getting in the range of 20dB cabin gain at 40hz. That puts you in the 125dB range. If you feel you need more, the TD12X is the next option with 14mm Xmax but it has a foam surround instead of the cloth so the upper end is not as smooth. http://www.aespeakers.com/pics/measurements/vehicle_TF/2002_olds_bravada_transfer_function.PNG http://www.aespeakers.com/pics/measurements/vehicle_TF/2001_GMC_Jimmy_transfer_function.PNG http://www.aespeakers.com/pics/measurements/vehicle_TF/2002_4_runner_mic_headrest_positioning.PNG The TD12M extends up to about 5KHz quite cleanly. On a 12" driver at 1KHz you are good to about 90 degree dispersion, +/-45 degrees. As long as you can get both sides aimed within that window you should be pretty good. https://sites.google.com/site/drivervault/driver-measurements/tang-band-75-1558se/ae-speakers-td12m Here are the dimensions of the TD12M. The apollo option adds 1/2" to the total depth. Because these are solid pole with phase plug you don't need to worry about any space behind the motor. http://www.aespeakers.com/pdfs/TD12-dimensional.pdf Best Regards, John
  13. Welding cable is international standard. Awg is a standard. They "should" all be the same with the difference being in price, and the jacket

  16. You could just buy the CDs from Bassmechanic and such.
  17. Pretty much what shizzon said. A few noticeable ones. Slamology, slamfest, SBN, world finals, and scrapin the coast.
  18. See, my whole thinking, at least from what I've read mostly on this forum and others. Is that you want the sound to come from a single source. So if I was running 3-way system, I would only have 3 pairs of drivers, and the same for a 2way system, I would only have two pairs of drivers.
