The maddness is forth coming
Personally I'd ditch the coaxes and run the Polk's active; how do you have them installed?

SoundStream wont Sponsor Local Competition.
I really hate to come off like this, but did you run spell check when you wrote to them? Image/perception is everything.

Welcome to the IHoP
Any kind of corner horn would be really, really nice in that room. With the low ceilings something like a BIB would be perfect, the ceiling makes up the rest of the horn expansion...

What do you get when you mix a couple audiophools, some monstrous Klip
That's just one wall...the others are just as packed

What do you get when you mix a couple audiophools, some monstrous Klip
First of all, sorry for the sucky photography, I realized I really need to clean the lens of my camera. I went to a friend's house yesterday because he had some Klipsch La Scalas dropped off, they're in transit to someone in TN but they made a stop here first. I hadn't heard La Scalas before, so I was curious to hear how they'd sound. Here they are: And a pair of Cornwalls to compare them to: Group shot. Behind the Klipsches are a stacked Advent pair, refoamed Acoustic Research towers, original Infinity RS1.5 bookshelves, and who knows what else. First we listened to an Audiosource Tripath amp, the black amp on top with the meters. Frankly, it sucked on the La Scalas, so we used this instead: 6550's running push/pull, about 45wpc, with a Bottlehead Foreplay 2 as a line preamp. A homebuilt Dynaco ST70 clone - EL34's in PP, 35 watts. Before this, I had heard a pair of Cornwalls, so I knew what they were like, but the La Scalas just did everything the Cornies did above 100Hz and did it better. A/B'ing the two, I liked the top end of the La Scalas a lot better, it was just so much more revealing and airy. They didn't have the bass of the Cornwalls, there really wasn't anything below 55Hz or so, but that's what a sub is for. The Cornwalls really didn't need a sub even for bass-heavy material, but I'd rather have the better everything else of the La Scalas over the Cornies' better subbass All in all, I think I still prefer the large Altec multicell horns...but those don't work very well with a passive Xover. These can. I also wasn't a big fan of the Tripath amp. The Bottlehead + 6550 PP combo really showed it up, IMO; if I had a good SET amp to A/B with it it probably would have sounded worse

yea, I made a name here too.
I really don't go on CSO as often as I should. Welcome!

Ah, SSA + Adblock = Now I'm just wondering what an "add" is.

College setup...
Glad to see my Adcom went to some good use What's on the other (right side, facing the bar) side of the basement? If I had that space I'd probably face the Maggies down the long axis of the room...with the two MAW-15's in a stereo pair.

WHEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!&
I'm sure it won't kill you to order a day or two after they hit the market

2 IDMAX 12's vs. 1 RE XXX 12
Install dependent...though if you're out to make loud farting noises there are other woofers I'd consider first...

Welcome to the IHoP
I saw it...decent price on that HF rig, if my apartment didn't suck in location so bad... Going mobile is the only real way I can get on the air anymore. I don't even have a balcony to put anything up.

want to upgrade from my two jl 12w6v2 to a Fi Bl15
Honestly, to me that'd be a downgrade. But JMHO.
-
Sub Collection for Sale
Totally install dependent. All three are very different designs that do well in different environments.

From: T Line
I've got some links for you First up, become familiar with http://www.t-linespeakers.org. They've got a bunch of subwoofer projects, and it's pretty much a required read if you're interested about these things...also, Martin J King's site at http://www.quarter-wave.com has a bunch of projects for you to look at. I hope this is for home use or a large SUV/cargo van, because T-lines and trunks don't mix for 12" subs.

I'm actually amazed I haven't screwed anything up yet, my Rava's unshielded and I half-expected something to get nailed when I was moving...

first system
Dual 1 ohm would work well for you. What's the rest of the system, or is it just a substage?
