  1. I'd check it with a DMM to make sure, and try it with another amplifier to rule it out, but it doesn't look good for that if one tweet already fried...
  2. Plenty of power for it As for enclosure sizes, if you can fit it I'd probably go for volume on the larger end of recommended, you could always add some polyfill if it's on the small side.
  3. I'd clamp the outputs and put them on an o'scope to see if anything's wrong...
  4. The sub really has a very tiny role to play when you're dealing with actual instrumental music. 50Hz and below is such a small fraction of what music consists of.
  5. Sounds like you need to work on your front stage, rather than do anything with your sub... What have you done up front?

We could just ban them all...
  7. I'd rather get something older, but that's just me...

Great, NC DMV changed their regs on antique registrations again...second time this year. All because the former commissioner got caught with his hand in a good 'ol boy scam, makes everyone else jump through hoops...
  9. Not the same meaning
  10. 10% THD on a cheap solid state amp, and +/- 10dB in the frequency response, for one My comment was that usually, specification sheets are hopelessly optimistic so if A-L is actually printing that, who knows how bad it really is Definitely not the Altec of old, that's for sure...
  11. I've seen some optimistic specs printed before, but if they're actually printing that, that's hilarious
  12. "JL" isn't a product, the W6v2 is a product Value is a relative thing, when I try to evaluate stuff I leave the price completely out of it, because for someone, it may be a good deal There's a market out there for $250,000 amplifiers, to the people that buy them they're worth it. For me, anything over $3K is getting well into diminishing returns...
  13. Yeah, that's what I thought Not a lot of potential for SQ there...go with the BTL.
  14. I'll ask this instead - what kind of music are you most likely to play?
  15. They're really meant for different things... What are you looking to get out of this?
  16. Your enthusiasm is good, misplaced now, but good Learn to channel that into something useful when you get older
  17. If your thread was deleted once, what do you think that means?
  18. Whatever happened to headphones?

I'd be very, very, very, very cautious about the Volvo. I'd make sure that model year has no ETM issues, no front end issues, etc I've done my homework on them all. Good. I know my folks' '01 is a piece of shit, not sure if they had ironed out all the problems by '04 or not.

off topic but got'damn!!! 8 million posts? Hint, he's the admin, he can set his post count to whatever he wants it to be...
  21. Nothing they have is really all that good. The W6v2 is, to me, one of my favorite subwoofers out there. By far the best product out of their line.
