  1. Im switching over to a to a Xcon and im trying to make this enclosure as optimal as possible. Im really going for a setup that sounds great and can play loud. I know that you have to sacrifice one for the other so I'm leaning more toward great sound. I'm also going to run a active front stage with Mach 5 6.5's and seas tweeters. Probably a sundown 50.4. I learned alot about active set-ups from you M5 and other members on here that know alot about sq setups. I appreciate any feedback on what I'm trying to do
  2. Im not familar with your area but the cheapest prices on mdf will probably be a lumber yard. If there isnt one near you your probably gonna have to go to lowes or homedepot
  3. Thanks. Yea thats gonna be the easiest option. I would just build another box but it wouldnt be near the build quality of the one i already have
  4. Here's a pic that shows the kerf a little better
  5. Give me a sec ill snap a pic and throw it on here
  6. Its a kerfed port so hopefully the extra port noise will be minimal
  7. Not port length. Port width. The width of the opening of the slot port
  8. I have a beautiful box that was built specifically for my vehicle. Now im going a different direction with my setup and I want to lower the tune on the enclosure. I have done a little research and I know that decreasing the port width will lower the tune of my enclosure but i will have to sacrifice a little port area to do so. What are the pros and cons of doing this? By the way the enclosure is tuned to 35 hz and i would like to change it to about 30 or 31. I currently have 100 in squared port area.

Prayers go out to you and your family chop
  10. Any reviews yet on the amp?

I ordered some comp sets from there. Very fast shipping
  12. Those strokers sound great. I had a friend that had two 15's in a suv and they got loud and were pretty accurate doing it. This was back in the late 90's
  13. you wont be getting 3500 rms without atleast 2 batts and a ho alternator. Without good electrical your a amp that big will die fast
  14. Get dual 4 ohm subs, wire the coils of each sub in parallel and each sub to it's own channel........that's how you do it. I don't suggest you do it that way but that's how you would accomplish what it is you want to do. what do you suggest then What type of amp do you have? The best way to do it would be get a dual 4 ohm woofer and run it paralell for a 2 ohm load. I thought you were trying to avoid running your woofer that way because your amp is not bridgeable
  15. Get a dual 2 ohm. Put each voice coil on its own channel. Both sides will be running at 2 ohms
  16. If the port was that close to the tailgate in the back woundnt that make the tune a little lower? Whatever the tune was i have never seen a 8 perform like that and i have seen alot of good small woofers in my day. Great product!
  17. Are your woofer d1 or d2?
  18. set the gains correctly on your amp and let it bang. lol. The only way to break in a sub is to play it
  19. I know this thread is a little old but did you like the sound of the xcon tuned to 35 hz. Im thinking about going with a xcon on my next build and trying it out at 35 hz. Its a little higher than optimal but i bet it still sounds amazing.
  20. Nice set up. What are you running for your front stage? Sounds like its keeping up with your sub pretty good
  21. I would love to hear it. Thats probably a very clean sounding monster
  22. Has anyone installed this amp yet? Looking for reviews
  23. That guy probably had his gains turned way down. Its probably possible but i wouldnt run that much power to a Xcon.
  24. Look on ebay for a old school memphis mojo amp. Does 2000 rms at 2ohms. I have one and I love it. The amp came out in 2003 or 2004 i believe
  25. The subs you currently have are lacking in the higher bass because you have enclosure tuned so low. Why not try to build another enclosure 1st before you spend money on a completely new setup
