Gain Matching
multimeter with a mid volume frequency on repeat is the way i gain match, also it is the way i ahve been setting subsonic filters and setting LPF. works great! i have a scope, but i find it hard to get everything putting out the same output (one amp may clip at a different output then another).

Some open discussion on product development.
this doesnt have anything to do with subwoofers, but i think a 500 or 600 watt amp would be nice to go with the sa series.

Universal Option

4th order bandpass in Cavalier trunk?
no... not enough room in the cav... get one good sub, put it in the proper enclosure, make sure there is room for the air to get around the sub box and such and enjoy the sounds it makes....

Trunk Setup Positioning
try side firing everything not joking it was the best way for output in my car with a taller box...

Chevy Cavalier, Kerfed Port Build, 12" BTL
now to answer some question about kerfing, ive found by kerfing a few boxes that the time of the year and how humid and such the air is can make it diffeicult to kerf, like i bought my wood in the winter and we had to go through so much work to get the tuff to bend without breaking, then i built a kerfed port in the summer and it was much easier, im not sure if it has somthing to do with how new the wood is or if its just the actual tempurature in the place you are working. but another note is that ive found this 11 layer birch stuff kerfs very very nicely, you dont have ot cut as deep as you do with the brittle mdf and it bends so smooth, all you do is leave the last layer of birch on the board when you set your depth and it take some persuation to bend it, but its bends very nicely, you dont get those little cracks or splits you get from mdf. try it out some time! also for a 3inch kerf move the blade 7/16" every cut, cut 12 times leaving 10 ribs.

Chevy Cavalier, Kerfed Port Build, 12" BTL
so heres the results to all my testing with these boxes: both boxes performed exactly the same, db numbers where spot on with each other, peak frequencies where the same (34 hz) and like i said they both provided me with a solid 147.5 @ 34 hz however, impediance rises where different, the tall box had a slightly lower imp rise, like .3-.5 higher than the short box. so in result the short box was more efficient then the tall box. so i sold the tall box. haha. short box did the db number at 1700 watts and the tall box did the number at 1900 watts now i have a burp box that provides me with a 148.3 @ 42 hz @ 1900 watts so box shape does have somthing to do with output, it just how nitpicky you want to get. i will do some more tests as the winter comes in and i have time to build more boxes, this time they will be strictly SPL orientated. thanks for your time and i will not forget about my build logs next time haha

not gunna lie, i wish i could! we had a dispute with Mr. Prange about this show, we had him change the date of one of the St. joesph shows so we could go to all his shows, but he decided to set up a show on the same date that he knew we couldnt make it to. all in all i wish i coud go, cause the Synergy and outlaw customs guys are super fun to hang with, but we have a 3x db drag show to go to at our "sponsor's" shop. so make sure to take vids especially when pate does his 160 plus runs

My Sa-12 testing session
its a very nice sub! i wouldnt want to go over 900 watts for too long on music, i had it going at 1300 watts for a while there and the coils got a little stinky, but nothing too bad... plus thing box is f'n huge for this sub, just a good comparison vrs a BTL.

Speaker wire, best for long runs
so went to a show today and stepped into the shop and the shop owner was talking with me and he showed me this jl 8 gauge speaker wire kit, he only had one kit or i would have bough it from him right thne and there, but hes going to check on the ware house ot see if they have any extra laying around, but this is what im talking about: JL Audio XA-BLUSCS-8 (xabluscs8) - 10 Gauge Speaker Wire - Sonic Electronix it looks like very good wire! i like that its 8 gauge and tethered together.

My Sa-12 testing session
did some testing with an sa-12 yesterday, and i was amazed at what these little "entry level" subs can do. on with the testing: Car: 1997 Chevy Cavalier z24 w/sunroof Electrical: stock alt, yellow top up front, kinetic 1800 in back, 2/0 welding cable all around Amplifier: One SAZ-3000 Enclosure: 2.7 cube box sub back 6inch aero port firing toward driver side wheel well. Subwoofer: One Sa-12 all testing done using the midwest spl format, meter on dash with window open, my car typically loses.4-.5 by sealing it up. also the subwoofer was brand new out of the box when i started these tests, i did the tests in the order they are listed. back to back about 2 minutes between burps. testing results: 144.8 db @ 42hz on 550 watts 146.1 db @ 42 hz on 906 watts 147.3 db @ 42 hz on 1550 watts 147.2 db @ 42 hz on 1760 watts 146.0 @ thug motivation song on 1360 watts subwoofer must have peaked out at around 1500 watts in this enclosure, but im very impressed with this as the best my BTL can do on 1900 watts was a 148.3 officially this same day. sorry no pics or videos, i was with a shop owner trying to get him to pick up sundown in his shop. might have convinced him its a very nice product! i will try to get some pics of the TL readout as well as some videos tomorrow or tuesday. Thanks for your time, Anton Miller

Speaker wire, best for long runs
why wouldnt it gain? there ahs to be power loss on a distance that far, more actual power to the subs should gain. anything other than the knuconcepts wire out there that is good wire? is strand count very important for speaker wire?
