  3. Meaning it will be hard to put together a prototype for some time.
  4. Just removed alternator from the system again... definately has removed the loud noise while the car is running, but the high noise floor is still there. Tomorrow I am going to hook the amp directly to my battery if I can find one to use, then use my Ipod & see if the noise floor is still there or not. If it disappears, then I'll go get some more wire & run the ground right to the battery.
  5. Truth.
  6. I think I might try a different battery too.
  7. Added relay = no improvement. Removed alternator from system, and there was no noise when the car was on, but never improved the higher than Id like noise floor... but I am going to do it again and make sure. Moved ground (for the third time) = no improvement. So, ya... going to try removing the alternator from the charging system again, and go from there. If that doesn't help... I am going to be contacting US Amps for more insight. I also am going to find someone with an amp I can borrow to see if I can narrow it down more.
  8. I hate fucking noisy amps, fuuuuck.
  9. JR works for USAmps... you should step away from the computer resident expert.
  10. Ok... I've been doing a bunch of searching on different forums for ideas. Ran across one guy (B-Squad) on DIYMA who had the same problem. He was using one remote supply for 5 different components. I am also using one supply, and it is daisy chained to supply my amps. He added a relay, and the sound went away. I'm trying that after work.
  11. Better tie it down well

  17. Big 3 done? How are those grounds?
  18. this sig is great

  20. When off... the noise is high pitched & slowly oscillating. This occurs all of the time. When on, and the system is "cold", the noise is a scratchy loud fast oscillating noise that will drown out the front stage if the volume is low enough. I cannot tell if the noise just gets quieter once the car/amps warm up, because I cannot hear it over the engine/exhaust. The noise is present when the volume is turned completely down to 0. The noise does not get louder with increased volume. The noise does not get louder with increased gain (@ 0 volume).
  21. 1) Noise is present on both the 1600.4 & 2000d, both when the car is on & off. 2) AC ripple on the alternator is ~30mV, ripple at the battery & amps is ~15mV Relocating the grounds is next... again. I have relocated them once already to try and rid myself of this problem. I do not want to have to ground them right to the battery here
  22. Got the rest of my drivers in... check teh build log
