  1. Pretty sure the Stetsom has a gain knob.
  2. Crapco is also filled with stupid little children. Who you gonna believe?
  3. Most of the fatmat products are asphalt based. I see on their site that they now make a couple of products that use their "patented" butyl compound. Probably mixed with more asphalt or other rubbery cheap compound. When you compare fatmat pound for pound against a heavy weight like Second Skin... fatmat will always come up short. Also, I'm moving this to the correct forum since it has NOTHING to do with Fi. Thanks for playing.
  4. Boxes in the back seat are ghetto as hell. Don't do that.
  5. Aperiodic Bi-Chamber Here's a good sample image that explains the basic properties.
  6. *Cough* ROE isn't like that. Sorry. John, sad to say.. it can be I like ROE more than a lot of other sites, but it can be. Doesn't look like you've been there since May. Can't really be passing judgment on a site you don't visit now can you..
  7. *Cough* ROE isn't like that. Sorry.
  8. The only advantage to running a smaller woofer is box size. There is no discernible frequency reproduction that certain sizes of woofers hit vs others.
  9. That and more. Don't get me started on the wiring I get to do to make this happen
  10. Front view. You can see all four clusters here. Dual 48 space amp racks (we used to use 3). Contains DSP and all amplification. 10kW amps and the processor to control/monitor the entire system (NomadLink) More four channel amps, monitors, midrange, high end and fills Half of the DSP in the system is here. The other half, plus the control computer. The modern day "alternator" Heavy... From behind This is the basic DSP layout, showing how the signal goes from box to box. There is more detail when you click each of those boxes.
  11. http://alifelessexplored.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/proceed-cat.jpg http://alifelessexplored.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/proceed-cat.jpg LMAO! Yeah come on man, share.
  12. Yes it's a little obscene that I have 97,800w on tap. No it's not in a car. Its in a 2200 seat church. All the power ratings except for the subs are at 8 ohms. We have all four channel amplifiers. I won't get into amplifier topology now, but suffice it to say... they're super efficient. 1x C10:4 (4 x 250 = 1000w) 1000 [fills] 4x C16:4 (4 x 400 = 1600w) 6,400 [high frequency] 4x C28:4 (4 x 700 = 2800w) 11,200w [monitors, fills] 4x C48:4 (4 x 1200 = 4800w) 19,200w [midrange] @ 8 ohms 6x FP10000Q (4 x 2500 = 10,000w) 60,000w [subwoofers, midbass] http://www.labgruppen.com/products/ All this is fed by a isolated power transformer that weighs in at 744lbs. Each amplifier is controlled and monitored through an ethernet based system called NomadLink. It will tell us amplifier temps, ohm load connected to each channel, fan speed, voltage input/output, switch and knob position as well as if the amplifier is online or not. I can also select channels in the system to mute/unmute and just listen to what is connected to that channel. All the amplifiers can be turned on and controlled with a normal PC. Before the signal hits the amps though, it runs through a 10 box crossover network. This is where the signal picks up it's EQ, Delay, HPF, LPF and signal summing and splitting before heading off into the amps and ultimately, into the drivers. Overall, there are 10 inputs and 71 outputs. There is a pretty much infinite amount of DSP I have to play with. Overhead in systems like these is a must have. If you're at 100% DSP use before you run audio through the network, you'll clip the DSP and end up with garbled or no audio. We sit currently at 53% DSP usage. We are running four clusters of four boxes. Each box has a 100° horizontal and 12° vertical throw. Inside each box there is 2 x 12" midbass, 2 x 8" midrange and 1 x 2" exit 75mm Coil Compression horn. So over all, there are 32 12" midbass drivers in the air . For subs, there are 6 boxes total. Three to each side of the stage. Each box encloses two 18" woofers capable of playing FLAT down to 8hz. The enclosures themselves are only 15" high due to a slanted mounting of the woofers internally. All six boxes are installed in concrete bunkers surrounded with fiberglass insulation. We have 15,000w slated just for the substage. Pics anyone?
  13. Resistors? YES HAVE SOME
  14. Your sure there are no dash or wiring harnesses? http://www.installer.com/cars/by_car.php?carid=8443
  15. I'm running some pro audio stuff ;-) But in a much larger capacity than you probably want.
  16. Looks like you paid the wrong person to build you a box..
  17. Sounds like you're more interested in a SQ system (judging by your equipment choices). $350 is more than enough for most of the drivers out there. How much space are you working with for an enclosure?
  18. Neither of those two amps would be my personal choice... Lanzar really only has one solid line of equipment left. The OptiDRIVE line.
  19. Sounds like the SSD in a ported box would be exactly what you need.
  20. Kick panels aren't part of your car... you build them separately from the vehicle and fit them into place over an existing panel. Also, the xcon has no problem playing high, but it's a subwoofer, its ment to play low. Not to mention, your box is ported. Seal that beast up and it will be a different story.
  21. Those are subwoofers... not midbass drivers Midbass is ment to blend with your front stage.. if you can't fit them in the doors, then you should make kick panels. Pick up these, Ascendant Audio 7" Carbons - SSA Car Audio Forum Cheap, good, reconeable seeing as how you blow things up often.
  22. They perform PERFECTLY FINE in a sealed box. Ported vs sealed is all user preference.
  23. Negative from battery to the amp is fine. That may be the lowest resistance option. Try hooking up a cd player or ipod to your amp and see if it exhibits the same behavior.
