  1. Did you switch subs at all? You may have gotten the larger terminals if you did. I tested out a pair of prototype Nightshade 12's for Jake and they had a larger terminal hole than the one's on my subs did. The wire was much easier to fit in the hole.
  2. I use 8 guage with my Nightshades, but you can't fit 8 guage in the terminals. You have to trim down the wires to get them to fit so it is okay to use 10 guage if you want. I just use the 8 cause I have it, and don't want to buy any 10 guage. I do use some 10 guage wire to jump from the coils to parallel them though.
  3. My car does well over a 150 for daily and that is on music and just not a burp. The equiptment used is 2 Sundown Nightshade 15's in 7.2 cubes ported to 37hz, 2 Saz1500d's, and an XS Power D3100 with a Deka Group 34 up front. There are a few of you on here that have heard the car and will agree that it is TOO loud for a daily setup. I love to compete so that's what drives me to make the car so loud. That and I love the bass too. If I had to guess I probably listen to it at about 146-147 at max and occasionally crank it up over 150 when I'm not at a stoplight or a residental area. My normal listening volume is probably around a 135 or so cause that chit doesn't need to be blastin all the time. Oh yeah I forgot to mention that it does 150's on 3100 clamped watts!!!
  4. A battcap would be the best out of the 3 but be prepared to spend at least a grand on one. You can get 2 D3100's and be straight for around $700 shipped to you. The D3100 will walk all over the HC2400 no matter what any of the Kinetik fanboys may tell you.
  5. It is the stock alt. Try Mechman online cause I know he's got the alts for this particular car. It's a little more than I want to spend, but if I don't end up getting one from Interlinc I'll either go with Mechman or Excessive Amperage.
  6. The setup consists of: 2 Nightshade 15's with 3 spider setup and 50mm coil 2 saz1500d's @ .5 ohms each (produce 1600 rms @ 42hz) 1 Deka Group 34 up front 1 XS Power D3100 in back 2 runs of 0 guage from front to rear, big 3 is not done but ground is to frame in 0 guage 1 set of Kicker RS65.2 comps in doors mounted as coaxials 1 Cerwin Vega Exl400.4 (same exact amp as Arc Audio 100.4) Pioneer Deh-p6000UB Pioneer Premier p686 6 disc changer I'm getting ready for a high output alt, a second D3100 in the rear, and a set of 4" comps in the a pillars. I also have a strictly spl box in the works just for comps. I will still use the box thats in the car now as a daily box. Forgot to add the box build log is on SMD.com under Nightshade's new build.
  7. Thanks Tony!!! I'm just glad that there are finaly some vids of this thing on the net to satisfy some people. Your right that the videos don't do the car the justice it deserves. The flex is super huge up close in person. I'm glad that we finally met up. I had to get this build done first before I would let you have a demo of the car cause I knew that it would be more impressive than the 12's were. Hopefully we can get working on something for your car here soon. Like the Nightshade 15 in there off of that 2200 that you have should work out pretty nice. It was nice to meet another person in the area that is on the forum and into loud bass like I am. I was very impressed with your car as well and hope I can get my sound to be as full and even at high volumes as yours. You can't see it much in the videos but the bass pretty much drowns out the highs. I'm only running a single comp set up front and have 2 more channles left on my 4 channel for a 4" comp in the A pillars. Next time we get together we need to get some ladies to help us do a hairtrick with the car. Maybe we'll be able to pick up some more flex too. I still haven't tightened up that battery cable. I really forgot until just now. Hope I don't get stranded
  8. The manilla folder is probably your best bet. As far as the epoxy I like the Locktite the best and I've used a couple other types. It just seems to dry the smoothest and really holds awesome. The CA glue that you would get from Jacob would't be for a small fee. A bottle of that costs somewhere like $100 from what I remember. So unless he has only a little bit in a bottle that he would sell for much cheaper your better off getting the epoxy. I would honestly just go with the epoxy all together. If you could get some of the flexible CA glue that he has for the surrounds that would be sweet, but epoxy will work absolutely fine.
  9. No, you'll need to get your own glue. Locktite 5 minute epoxy is about the best stuff out there to use.
  10. 2.5 cubes is perfect for a Nightshade 15. You will have a larger box than 5 cubes though for 2 of them because you will have to take into account the woofer and port displacement. You will more than likely have an external box that is about 6.5 cubes or so depending on how large of a port you go with. I can tell you from experience that the NS 15's are definately no joke. Mine are doing over a 150 at 40hz in a Focus ZX3.
  11. Fixed There that looks even better
  12. You could do 4 10's in a 5 cube box ported and be fine. I know you didn't say anything about 10's but it's just a suggestion. If you really wanted to do 12's you could do them in 1.5 cubes each and probably do 3 easy in your trunk ported.
  13. But people mix high's with different impedences and different speakers all together all the time and run them. You can do it and I've seen it done several times. I've seen spl competitors run mismatched subs and their scores go up because of it. I've done it in my car at one point. I ran a dual 1 ohm Nightshade at 2 ohms and a dual 4 ohm Type R at 2 ohms and then ran them in parallel to my amp at 1 ohm. My score dropped off from a 148.1 with 2 NS to a 147.6 with 1 NS and 1 Type R. Now the Type R isn't even in the same class as the NS, but my point is that it worked fine and I didn't have any issues running it like that for 2 weeks or so until I got a recone on my other Nightshade. Jacob saw it when I went to Sundown to get the sub reconed.
  14. Do you want me to design you a box? If so pm me and I'll get started on it tonight.
  15. If your only running a single 1500d at 1 ohm you should be fine with the stock alt and the red top. I run 2 1500d's at .5 ohms off of a stock alt, a D3100, and a Deka G34. I still have some light dim cause I don't have a ho alt, but the amps get all the power that they need and then some. If your looking for an affordable alt from a good source go to SMD.com and pm Db Linc Designs. They do high output alts for a very reasonable price. I believe that they will beat most competitors prices. The guy you want to talk to is Jake and his name on the forum is Db Linc Pres. If you want I can give you the number to his shop.
  16. What kind of car are you putting it into? I'll give you a design that I guarantee will do over a 143.9
  17. True, mine do 1800 rms a piece at .5 ohms and I don't even have the gains maxed out.
  18. im going to find that out now, when did the upgrades start? around what month? I believe he started in early December. I had my Nighshade 12's upgraded in August, so it was way sooner than December. You had them upgraded. I'm talking about when the longer coil and cooling became "stock". Oh, I see.

  20. I've done 115 in my Focus ZX3 and had it pegged the car was still accelerating but I had to slow down cause a car changed lanes into my lane on the highway. The speedometer says over 150, I wonder if it could go that fast?
  21. They should come back on Sunday. If they don't I'll host them somewhere else cause I can't go back and edit any of my posts here anyway.
  22. By the way 3 12's and 2 15's are pretty much the same exact cone area. The only difference would be more power on the 12's and would probably be louder.
  23. I went from 2 Ns 12's and 2 1500's to 2 Ns 15's and 2 1500's. I'll let you know how it sounds by the end of the week.
  24. Hey I'm also from Ohio and I just moved to NC in August. I live in Greensboro and there will be a NSPL show in High Point this Sunday March 1st at Eastgate Electronics. It is going to be a 3X event so world records can be achieved at this time. Come out and have some fun.
  25. Bs, they won't be available until May
