No he is still using his stock alternator, hes just not going to run a fuse inbetween the alt. and the positive on the battery post. (For example, its the same as running a power wire to the back of the vehicle. Right before the amp there is a fuse. Its the same for the alt... for cautionary use.

If you have an extra fuse/fuse holder sitting around I would recommend using it OR if you decide on upgrading the alt. But in other cases no its not mandatory. i have a fues holder but it only has a 60A fuse and there is no way thats big enough.can i out a bigger fuse in it? You are most likely going to need a bigger fuse holer. so your just doing your grounds and leaving the alt.??? No, he is doing all three BUT just not running a fuse line within the alt and positive battery post.

If you want one then no. I currently have a triple gauge pod on my dash and only two are being used at the moment. Planning on purchasing one of the glowshift ones to match my defi ones origionally
