Boston Acoustics SPG555
those SPL lane in field repair features are just plain stupid since the tracetrack design makes it not usable in the lanes , racetrack designs do not suffer the same problems square woofers do , at least to my knowledge . they sound good , but no better than to be expected ,a nice feature is the passive radiator that is available , something you don't see very often anymore . in that regard , Fi wouldnt mind making a passive eighter though

help choosing subs
that...... and a single woofer setup could further widen the choice for a potential sub or give room for improving the front setup , better kickdrivers and door mods for instance that would also greatly improve the way you experience bass coming from the sub you end up choosing .

Ground Noise or Something
in looking at the grounding your definatly looking in the right place ! have you done the big 3 ? / checked the grounding on the chassis ,engine , and alt ? while your at it check if al connections are still wrapped tight and secure around the powercables also on the power side .

time to lose weight.
My tip for loosing weight : Swimming ! You use every muscle in your body instead of focussing on only a few ...and because of the water you can get rid of the heat produced by your body quickly and therefor train longer , at the top of my game I burned twice the calories of an average sized male each day .

4th order/ sealed bandpass discussion
Not entirely true , wanting that small sealed setion would depend on how high you'd want the tuning to be ...so in bassracing or european ESPL that will definatly work with a very big vented side. How is Hoffman's Iron Law not 100% true?? wasn't debating on Hoffmanns iron law ...its an iron law ..... In a 4th order bandpass enclosure efficieny is not determined by the size of the sealed side but the size and tuning of the vented side A sealed enclosures efficiency chanced based on internal volume as does a vented enclosure, I think. Lol not sure I'm reading this right because my english is slightly challanged , maybe I'm going mad , small sealed side = higher tuning on the sealed end , big sealed side = lower tuning on the sealed end , to me that is far more important than the gain in efficiency you'd get from it ....how broad you want the band the sub is playing in / if and where you'd want it to peak

third gen BTL , NICE !

Anyone know who could make this enclosure?
have you thought about space requirements of the other driver , besides that the enclosure you want doesn't have the thickness a good subbox would require ......and its intelectual property belonging to somebody else. else so even if I could I wouln't ! figure something out that would involve some mdf ...glass what is left in openings .... it will be a better box that could meet those space requirements and if you carpet it right will look just as good and will be cheaper .

Fi BTL tinsel broke
Are we all still talking about a tinsel lead that has come loose ? there is a reason why nowadays the tinsel lerads are woven in the spider. I've seen wear lon spider and cone before and in that case the leads were too long. I say just recone the BTL and ask for those woven in tinselleads or ship it to Fi and and have them recone it , if it were a production flaw I bet they'd recone it for free .....send them a mail and ask .
