  1. LOL
  2. I would go with about 3.4 cu ft for enclosure volume and tune it to 33-34 hertz, and use about 55-60sq inches of port area.(and face it forward and seal it off.)
  3. IIRC, Jacob said it was for when the gain is maxed out and you still can't get enough voltage. Like if you have a really low pre-out voltage as stock head units do. This and Jacob also lowered the amount of bassboost, so if it's used it wouldn't abuse the equipment as much. Bassboost can be used in some cases, but most of the time it's useless.(what Alton said)
  4. 350$ for a sub,amp and wiring? I would get a Type R and a Rockford fosgate prime 500 amp.(the subwoofer is good and the amp is good.) But 350$ for sub,amp and wiring is quite low. ANd then get a 4 guage wiring kit that looks decent.
  5. I dunno if you've ever tuned a fully active system before, but it has to be done in that fashion. With the gains low, crossover, eq and level settings all have to be adjusted before setting the gains. Even then setting the gains is not done in the regular fashion either. Huh? I know that you have to first set all the settings on the amp (except, gains, and don't use bassboost). And after installing everything start to turn up the gain.(some do it by ear, other with a oscilloscope.) But he said he turned up the gain bit by bit, maybe the last bit was too much for the driver to handle in free air.?
  6. Don't care about price? LOL what's the real budget?
  7. So u turned up the gain after u installed the midbass?(just asking)
  8. Have you looked at the gain setting?(it can change sometimes after you have set it) Are you using any bassboost? How do you set you're gains?
  9. I think you're the douche... Nice vid, i like the way the enclosure is made.
  10. I would upgrade to a better box instead... But i just like to build boxes and get louder with the same equipment.

Lol, why isn't this thread closed yet?
  12. I would go with 2cu ft sealed for the 15 inch.
  13. No, because you won't be able to hear the 10's anyway. If the enclosure is only 2.75cu ft for the 15", then i would rather seal it up and reduce the volume on the inside.'(and mixin sub sizes isn't that good in the first place)
  14. Most true home audiophiles use Infite baffle subwoofers.
  15. Seal it off? That would be the best thing to do, because sealed + ported is no no.
  16. Single 3/4 MDF? for a level 5? That's not something i would do, it would atleast use double 3/4 MDF all around.(with some bracing, and fiberglass)
  17. , never even saw that there was a port. I thought they were sealed and even then i thought the enclosures were too small. I think it won't sound good, because of those small and short ports.(and too low volume)
  18. 0.5 ohm or 16 ohm, it won't matter how it will sound. Higher ohms=lower power(on almost all amps) You won't hear a diference between 0.5ohm or 16 ohm if it's the same power that is applied.(if the gains are set correctly.)
  19. Solid cone, 2 inch thick and you get 15 grams out of it. wow , i'm impressed. (woops i'm spamming this thread a little bit )
  20. No, i don't really see it, but i believe in you Grasshopper. Or maybe i don't really understand you .
  21. Omg, teh cone is white You do know Yellow adds SPL? XD I think it's the part behind the cone that makes it strong, the curves.(correct me if i'm wrong.)
  22. SPAM: lol If this isn't customer service, i don't know what customer service is. End of spam.
  23. You forgot to cut the port :P Nice box.(like always.)
  24. X2 I would rather run them as infinite baffle, if you are going to use them as midbass they shouldn't reach mechanical limits if u aren't using a lot of power. 8 of them should handle 400W, so if u have 200 or less watts i would just run them as infinite baflle.
