  1. It's worked many times for me. I actually see this issue a lot with H/U. If the remote wire ever grounds out, there is no real protection for it as far as the H/U is concerned. So, in a pinch you can use a constant power source with a switch in the line that acts like you turning on the H/U. You may actually pick up a slight "thump" sound when you turn it off and on but I've never seen it hurt anything.
  2. It may be an internal thing that a new harness won't cure.
  3. Remote wire on my H/U doesn't work.. no idea why, just doesn't. I was talking to a friend on here and he suggested to tap into another wire thats fused as well. So, we decided on the ignition/power wire that is "key on" so i did so and it worked wonderful, except for now.. Easy fix then, Tap a wire from the battery. Then splice in a toggle switch. (not a cheap plastic one either) I get them from NAPA usually, look for a big amp load so it don't fry. tap the other end to the amp.
  4. get er' right again, then wiggle each wire individually and find the short. It may be in the harness on the rear of the H/U....(if wires got smashed too tight)
  5. I wasn't talking to you! LOL (joking) I was trying to inform..... I'm totally picking up what you're layin' down, when in doubt use the process of elimination. If you know which is the chassis ground, clamp that and don't move it. Then proceed to eliminate wires by turning on and off the ignition and watching for a controlled response.
  6. The remote wire is like a switch that once a 12v current flows to the terminal the amp kicks on. The remote is getting constant battery power instead of a switched/ interrupted power source.
  7. I bet you used the "clock wire" (usually yellow) as the remote instead of the acc. wire. ????? The remote should only come off the wire on the H/U - nothing else.... Most H/U it's either a blue wire or blue with white stripe. Sometimes marked "power ant." or "acc."
  8. Hey I just noticed you replied haha. You comin to slamology?? June 19th I think. Oh yeah! And the Ranger will be competing too!

Oh yeah I have about 6 people for sure who want to hear THIS enclosure when it's done. The last one I had to remove my truck cap and drop the box in....LOL I'm wondering if it might, just might, slide right in there.... The hood, (for lack of better words) will really set it off and reflect the sound waves into the front instead of wasting it through the rear cap.

Well I chopped out a few panels and played with some F/G resin...... I turn my back for a few minutes and......... Here's my son who thought it looked kinda like a race car... Now I feel like this freaking rain is trying to make things personal! As I was cleaning up a wind started brewing. I walk around the back side of the lot to see this coming! It should be constructed for the most part tomorrow! (Providing the rain really isn't stalking me!...LOL)

Thanks for the feedback! Today is bright and sunny so I'll have more pics up tonight of the progress. The enclosure part is almost done. I just snagged a gallon of F/G resin from HomeDepot so now I can fill the flares to make them tough as nails! LOL

LOL.. Yeah it's very annoying. As a matter of fact, it's raining again now and that's exactly what I'm doing is staring out the window and watching the weather radar...... I did make enough room in my shed so that I can get in there to do some minor details. Like filling screw holes and sanding on the port to get it ready for paint.
  19. I bet that van has a small breath of relief ever since the 15's haven't been in there. Nice clean fit and design!

Thank you! This is only about half way on the enclosure too. The top is really going to be tricky. But, if it all goes as planned the I hope it looks cool and actually functions as desired. The weather could be a lot nicer too! This thing would be audible if it didn't rain the past two weeks off and on here.

  25. From his description, it sounds like it wouldn't take long to sweep the floor...LOL He's kinda like Yoda when it comes to enclosures.
