Measure 3 times and cut once! Lol It's all about attention to detail. Plus, learning from "F" ups. Trust me my first enclosure ever was a train wreck. How I still have all my fingers is unknown.

M5 was 100% correct......A long time ago I thought I was sooooo smart saving money on cheap sound deadening. I should've listened to him and many others when they warned me. Now I have a freakin' mess on my hands ripping out this bullshit asphalt based garbage. Learned this lesson the hard way. Fealing like an idiot on this one.

Basically, I was trying to keep port displacements down. At my last competition when I was running both 15's I had a net of 10 cubes & 129 sq.in. of port area. I got a final 150db with that before a mechanical failure on one coil during a demo at 20hz. Plain stupidity on my part was the only reason for the coil locking up. I couldn't get to the volume quick enough to shut things down. This single 15", during modeling I kept toying with the port size & displacements and finally settled on this.

Finally my free time and the crappy weather have allowed me to work on this.
  5. I know during competition & demos at shows a lot of guys will simple feel the heat coming from around the dust cap area. That accompanied with the smell of hot copper can give you an idea if you are needing to cool things down. That being said, I know at shows one tends to go "balls to the wall" on output but if you experience this during daily driving you may be heading toward mechanical failures.
  6. No crap! For the love of......
  7. When you do, could you post up a vid? I know the audio may not do them justice but a little demo would be cool!
  8. Holy crap! Half of this thread was very informative. As for the other, I'm not sure why there's a need to argue. Sean does rub people the wrong way at times but he does make you think about stuff in a different way. He grows on you if you actually take his responses and do a little unbiased research. A lot of the times he is correct. Fighting with words through a keypad gains nothing.
  9. Sweet!
  10. Very nice & clean! Watch that mdf dust bro, that stuff will mess your lungs up!

It's for my last remaining Icon 15. It's been sitting in the original shipping box since I blew the coil on the twin at Slamology years ago. Every day I see the dang thing sitting there just begging me to give it life. So, 4 cubes plus displacements, 2200rms @ 2 ohms tuned at a nice flat 27hz. After modeling these numerous times through the years of owning these, this was the best response curve I can obtain.
  12. Alton is correct on this. In my experiences enlarging the port opening will reduce velocity. That being said, with doing so also will lengthen the port to maintain proper tuning. Larger ports will also devour displacements inside the enclosure quickly. That's why people who are very restricted with space will choose aero ports or schedule 40 pvc pipe.

Whew it's been a long time since I've done a build for myself. This one is modest and not going to be as insane as my last, but then again I am a little bit older now...
  14. 19k US... Still freakin crazy expensive! No way I could even consider wanting those for that price! Lol
  15. What's going on up there? How are the lows?
  16. Very nice once again Trevor! I also found 28hz to be a "sweet spot" for tuning on my Icons. That black on white really pops in the trunk!
  17. Can't wait to see what you come up with!
  18. Very unique! Details everywhere. I bet you could spend an hour in there just gazing and still miss a few. I'm very impressed with the effort!
  19. No the sub won't know the difference. Use centerline measurements and it's all the same. It's not like static pressure on a fan forced air duct. Just maintain the same diameter piping.
  20. To answer the title question. From you Steve, hell ya! Let's see it!
