  1. Thanks for your advice and I will raise the tuning to 30hz and leave it there, time to design a new box.
  2. I do know that box size does play a role into the tuning equation but since nobody can give Chop a good box size to go with for that sub and he said the box seemed to big so I recommended going a little smaller. The reason why my box is so small because thats what Sundown ask for their 15"s and mine is .15ft^3 bigger than the biggest recommendation.
  3. Yeah man just so it will be easy to search here you go (resonance), but yeah Im still learning all this tuning and how your car affects it but the range I posted a minute ago is my understanding of tuning frequencies for a ported enclosure. I dont think your the ultimate low fan so I think 32Hz is a good place to start for tuning and go from there.
  4. You can make an account at photobucket or any other picture hosting site and upload them from there or you can create a gallery in on here and upload them to the gallery from your computer. Then you will notice an icon in the posting toolbar looking like a picture of of a tree between the link icon and envelope icon, that you will click on and place the link from that picture in and click insert image. I go to see the tv is steering wheel and dash.
  5. okay so that means when i buy my wire and fuseblock that i pick the 150 amps one right? im thinking of buying the knukonceptz 1/0 amplifier instalation kit. sorry im not that good with these things but i know yall are Yeah if you dont have anymore equipment in the car then yes the 150A anl fuse will do 12" from the battery.
  6. Yeah I think the 3.5ft^3 will probably suit it better, but the tuning is something you have to decide on what you want to lose or give up or comprimise. For example: 27-30Hz (great lows, ok output) 31-35Hz (good lows and good output) 36hz or higher (ok lows and great output) After all this Im thinking I may rise my tuning to 30Hz and no higher (but 29Hz isnt that far off so it is still a toss up), we will see by the time it comes to build a box for it.
  7. If you dont want to buy the wire now then now you dont have to for that Alpine amp and if you do buy it you dont have to use it till you get the Sundown. So spend that money on other things now or buy it just to get it out the way so you dont have to buy it down the road. Just so nobody messes with you it is 1/0 awg, not 0 gauge. Hope this helps you out buddy.
  8. Haha you guys kill me with that take something free and toss it in the trash, I would at least turn around and sell it for some more duckies but to each its own (I guess yall have it like that to throw free things away then at least give them to someone to have fun with it). But I agree if you dont listen to old school music then it is useless in my eyes, but if your getting it for free then go ahead and have some fun with it just dont damage any equipment (it will distort if used wrong and cause epic failure to your subwoofers).
  9. Yeah I felt as though I couldnt pass this offer up, but it felt like he was telling me hey you would like were I tune it (didnt ask or anything just made it seem like that was rule of thumb for there tunig like its no exceptions). Yeah I love the lows and could care less about ouptut becaue it will still be there regardless, now if I wanted to compete then I would take that into consideration to tune higher. I just came from a box tuned at 26Hz and to go up to 35hz or 36hz is ridiculous to me. If I do good numbers then I want it to be at a lower frequency (now thats impressive) cause anybody can tune a box in the 35hz - 45hz range and get good numbers on output. What are your plans now Chop, dont give up on the sub I bet it will be where you want it when you get the right box for it that fits your preferences.
  10. Try the search feature it helps, there are plenty of topics on this already:
  11. You can get sound quality from almost any sub (probably not at high volumes), as long as your box is built right and to how you want it then it should sound good. All that how you want it to sound will come down to the box and not the equipment.
  12. Why would I and everybody has there preferences, those may be lows to you but not to me (Im down 1hz from what is recommended and I prefer lows over output anyday). But thanks for your input, if anything I will go to 30Hz and no higher.
  13. x2, be a pioneer and start a review on them.
  14. Nobody is starting anything stop getting emotional (thats a females trait), obviously since you been on here long enough you would know what the rules are and how to follow them. Im gonna say what I want to so stop crying and give us more information so we can help you its that simple, why leave out information we are gonna ask you anyway which is going to slow the process down from you getting the best answer possible. Just follow the rules and you wont have no problem from me or any moderators (Im trying to help you out buddy). Bigrank said the same thing I did, more info. To be honest with you no matter how much information you give on this topic it still is the same, both are great drivers and will get the job done (whatever fits in the budget and wins the coin toss).
  15. Man stop getting emotional (thats a females trait), you simply gave out false information and he corrected you. Obviously he is tyring to get that person to understand that by going into all this detailed information so he can make the right decision for himself. Yeah active is hard to do but not the most difficult thing in the world (takes alot of time to tune and get it just right). OP if your willing to put in work and some time in to tune it correctly (you wont get it right your first or second time) but its worth it in the end, it just depens on how much you will put into it to get the best results. If you dont plan on giving it that much time or work then stick to passive. Just my .02
  16. I found two links for you, one is the manual and the other is a small review of the amps make-up in general. Apparently they just came out so you wont find to much information on them yet, just have to either try them out if you like them or go another route till they start getting reviews up about them(which may be awhile). http://www.installercentral.com/products/2009/07/08/exile-audio-xi-amplifiers/ http://www.exilecaraudio.com/manuals/amplifiers/xiamplifiermanual.pdf
  17. We understand what you mean by taking the seats out, yeah you could put the 15"s in there if you want to but that would be pushing the space. I would rather put a sub in the closest to the middle or maximum size then its smalles size possible just to say I got 15"s. A smaller box means more boomy and peaky, a larger box means more room to breathe, great lows and so on. Do some research on box sizes, small versus large (there was a topic on this a few days ago so read up on that).
  18. Keep the pictures coming man, pictures on SSA = .
  19. Im calm dude just trying to help you stay on this forum longer without losing your posting priviledges for these horrible topics, so I will let you be and get what you deserve since my help is unappreciated. I told you who used them Thumper, go check out his thread and he goes into detail about the amps. Just read the rules dude and you wont have to hear my mouth or any other moderator, so you chill out and post right (its that simple, thats all we ask for people to do around here). How are you getting mad at me because you cant follow the rules, fucking priceless and hilarious.
  20. What the hell are you talking about, every site that I look up an Hifonics amp is says it does the 2000 x 1 @ 1ohm for the Brutus 2010: Hifonics Amp Yeah man stop making this so hard, just find an amp that does what you want it do at 2 ohms and fits into your budget. If your stuck on Hifonics amps then check out the BXI-2010 or 2610, those will fit your needs. You need to do your Big 3 Wiring if you havent done so and get you a secondary battery for you amp.
  21. No problem and be more wise on how you bump your music and where you bump your music.
  22. There are about 20 pages under google that talk about these amps, there is Thumper who does enclosure who praised these amps under his thread. They are good amps from my understanding, but please make your topics more useful to everybody and not just you (please read new member guidelines before posting again or making another useless topic).
  23. Well what kind of budget are you working with? 350-400 is the most I want to spend, Like I said I got robbed so I have been slowly adding money to the "car audio" fund You probably need to put that money towards an alarm system first, but either amp will be justice. Also check out the amps at db-r.com and get a SAZ-1500D refurbished.
  24. Haha 240 is not cruising and have some fun for over there for us SSA Members. KPH. good save lol I knew what he was talking about, I was joking .
